MOST can be defeated if you really want to - I have no issues with it - except for hte few "early mornings/late nights" I was messing with it, and neglected to open the aperature shutter - I thought it was busted, then laughed at myself for being a dummy !

I was still within my 7 days of "unconditional return" and even by the time Senkat got it, he could have done the same... it was a win win... It led to me meeting Senkat and his wife which was a very pleasant experience.... meeting people on the web can be quite creepy.. espcially for women... my wife was a bit apprehensive, but we hit it off well.....

yea.. it was pretty funny... Senkat knew when I got the Aries and he was planning on getting one two.. but "just" missed the sale.... so then he assumes.... "well, maybe I'm not supposed to get one"...
I said... I can fix that!.... I was deciding what I wanted to do for a couple of days and as soon as I announced I've decided to go for the gusto.... before I could say "kiss my grits".. he was sending me money!!!! LOL!... it was fun to hear the difference he noticed between it and his nexus.
I was burning matches from 7 feet with it with no prob.... all I had to do was hold it still!!
Regardless of the burning power "which could alwasy be leaking IR", the most beautiful thing about it was the brilliant flourescant beam compared to the dull grey green beam of the others we compared with "Except the Herc".
Funny how what you think is a nice looking beam don't look so not next to a better one!
My Herc has the same brilliance of the Aries as far as color and flourescence.. its just bigger and bolder due to the extra power.

*sigh* one day...... LOL !! I was JUST using it as a torch to get around the house - all the lights were out lit up the whole room + some !

Even modest jumps make the cost go crazy without achieving the objective you may hope for from jumping from 125mw to 300mw.....
