fluorescence under 532nm

I have noticed that many things fluoresce under 532 green laser light, using my >200mw sky laser with the collimating lense removed. Some inks, the pores on your face, earwax :-?, urine(when drinking my aim is not perfect) and many other things.

The best way to see this is to have your laser very divergent (if too collimated you will drown out the fluorescence) and view through your green protective goggles. My digital cam is broken so no pics sorry but try different things and post your results.

532nm likes to fluoresce on orange/yellow things. One time I was burning some stuff with my goggles on, and I accidentally pointed the laser at my multimeter from DX. It fluoresced so bright I though I had gotten hit in the eye ;D

My harbor freight DMM fluoresces very bright. It almost makes me want a orange laser.

Maybe he was drinking and missed, and the bit that missed was the bit that lit up?

/me runs and pees on a wall to try (i suggest everyone who reads this pee on their wall too)

Yeah lol, I know that's what he meant. It doesn't flouresce veery bright, you need to be wearing goggles to see it.

LOL I meant when I am drinking (alcohol) my aim is impaired. Anyone try the pores on your face thats realy cool, remember your laser has to be very divergent like a flashlight for the best results.

Blurays fluoresces a lot more things than green. White paper looks blue, and according to IgorT, grass has a red glow (damn must test that when my BR will arive).
And if you have glow-in-the-dark stuff, they will become green. and if you "draw" on them with a BR, it makes a line that slowly fades away.

In my experience, 532nm only fluoresces with orange/red things, and the fluorescence will look orange.

Once you get a 405nm laser, you will be amazed at the number of things and the different kinds of things that fluoresce.

Peace,

My green flourseces my drill ( which is red ) my GITD stuff on the roof ( thats orange ) and my yellow screwdriver, which just goes extremely bright green, the other two go orange ;D

I'm gonna try get a BR after I get an RPL

A piece of florescent orange plexiglass hit by a greenie (you can't see the beam because the camera is exposing for the brightness of the glow):

If you have a 473nm blue (argon @ 488 will do it too) that will also make things glow. Makes sense as blue is higher energy than green.

What color does peanuts fluoresce to? (I actually think that FML made a topic about this, but I can't find it anymore).
The fluorescence is the main reason to why I am geting a BR, and >120mw of BR fluorescing must look spectacular! I can't wait!

I have only heard about fluorescence from a shorter wavelength to a longer one, but is it possible to make it backwards, a longer to a shorter wavelenth? :-/
And Schrecken Licht, nice pic! But how come that it looks kinda purple on the pic? :-?

Great Picture, I was wondering will an item like your plexi keep emitting such a bright light forever as long as the laser points at it or will the effect fade over time?
