Actually you will, at least I did with my 100mW greenie pen I had a while back. It performed far better on 1.5V primaries. Much faster peak power, longer peak sustain.
yeah, you will notice it on a LPM but IMO you wont notice it with your eyes. i have a few pen lasers and with standard 1.5V AAA vs 1x 10400 3.7V with dummy battery i dont notice a difference with my eyes. all i know is the batteries last much longer due to the higher mAh. same thing with me AA laser and the 14500 3.7 with dummy cell.
Like I said, it's "noticeable", not merely "measurable", but granted, that's my own case - differences might be surprising from one laser pen to another.
EDIT - BTW, you are not making correct analogy.
2x 1.5v AAA primaries, versus 3.7 Volt lithium ion cell both satisfy the operational parameter of 3 (or more) volts of input.
i have decided to go against buying rechargeable batteries for now.
depending on how much money i'lll have in the next day or 2 ill choose between 8 packs of duracell ultra power and duracell plus
