Thank you Eudaimonium. I am going to elaborate on this and add it to my sticky guide to owning lasers so everyone can read about diodes vs DPSS :D

2x AAA pen lasers have only a slight performance difference when used with 1.2V rechargables, as opposed to 1.5V primaries.

If you can, get eneloop batteries, they are supposedly superior in voltage delievered.

Actually you will, at least I did with my 100mW greenie pen I had a while back. It performed far better on 1.5V primaries. Much faster peak power, longer peak sustain.

yeah, you will notice it on a LPM but IMO you wont notice it with your eyes. i have a few pen lasers and with standard 1.5V AAA vs 1x 10400 3.7V with dummy battery i dont notice a difference with my eyes. all i know is the batteries last much longer due to the higher mAh. same thing with me AA laser and the 14500 3.7 with dummy cell.

I didn't have an LPM back then :p

Like I said, it's "noticeable", not merely "measurable", but granted, that's my own case - differences might be surprising from one laser pen to another.

EDIT - BTW, you are not making correct analogy.

2x 1.5v AAA primaries, versus 3.7 Volt lithium ion cell both satisfy the operational parameter of 3 (or more) volts of input.

2x 1.2v AAA rechargebles do not.

i have decided to go against buying rechargeable batteries for now.
depending on how much money i'lll have in the next day or 2 ill choose between 8 packs of duracell ultra power and duracell plus

WHOA, please edit your previous posts if no one else has made a post. double posting (in your case quadruple posting) is heavily frowned upon here at LPF. use the eidt button at the bottom right of your post next time please :D

My energizer rechargeables and eneloops both give about 1.47V after full charge. You should be fine with rechargeable batteries.

3.7V could shorten the diode life since the laser you got probably doesn't have a good driver....
