First impression of wickedlaser's 20mW green laser

OK guys, got home last night and tried it out. First impression was that it was sorta chintzy appearing. Plastic box and no batteries included, but not a big deal. What I really didn't like was the crappy on-off rubbery button. Not a nice solid click and furthermore, unless you depressed the buttom only on the very bottom of the button itself, it would actually stick in the down position a little bit. Very annoying and I could see the problem getting worse over time.
That said, the beam itself was excellent, very bright.

I wrote back to their customer service and they just reponded back with an RMA authorizing me to return it for a replacement (also I charged it on my Amex so I'm not too worried). Apart from the cost of returning it throught the post office, I'm not too worried.

Any thoughts? Should I jsut ask for my money back or try another one :undecided:

That's weird, usually WL has great hosts but bad lasers. The decision is really up to you. If you don't like it, and want to get a different laser, then do so. But if it's not really a problem, keep it.

I would get the NOVAlasers X-25

ive never cared for WL, but thats a personal opinion based on a negative exp. since its the host that your paying so much for i would return it, if the look is that imporatant to you, get a replacement, if its quality you want, try dragonlasers.com, they are alot cheaper than wicked, and there lasers are made by the same ppl that make wicked, and in my opinion there(CNI) design has a sleeker look to it.

Thanks for everyone's hel;p guys. It was actually the Classic 20 mW version. It just seemed really junky. I've already decided to return it, cancel it on my Amex card, and I'm taking the advice of you guys on the forum who recommended two firms that caught my interest, Optronics and RayFoss.

Basically i want something that I can shove in my pocket and take to the clubs for a few hours (stuck in sweaty jean pockets) and not feel bad when it eventually burns out or I lose it. So I can either go with a better quality Optronics 30mW for about 60 bucks or a really cheapo Rayfoss one for half the price (actually, I was thinking of getting a RayFoss 50mW pen version and a 30mW keychain version with lots of screwcap defractors, both totalling to about $65, including shipping!).

Again, although the RayFoss lasers are likely cheaper quality than the Optronics, at least I won't be paying triple the price for it (like WickedLaser) and it will still get the job done.
Thoughts?

yes, good idea, thats what i would have normally recomended if you hadnt bought the WL yet, unless your after amazing divergence or great quality, i never saw a point in getting such an expensive laser in anything under 100mW, because the ones from rayfoss will put out the same power, and are alot cheaper, think you can get a 50mW rated laser from rayfoss that puts out 50mW or a tad less, for less than 1/4 of what you paid for half the mW at WL.

I'm not sure if we're still talking pointers, but Rayfoss sells a 150mW pen-style for $75, and they've had a 150mW handheld for $58 (I know it hardly makes sense). That would be about the same that you paid. And Rayfoss lasers aren't always "cheapo". They sell some really good solid units, though they do cost a little more. I would still rather get one of the more expensive units than a cheap one, just because I know it will last longer.
