Just take off the tail cap, and the battery, and put them in seperate suit cases or luggage and you'll be fine

And yes, the only way to know how powerful your laser is is with an LPM!

NICE idea man, lol never thought of that.

I can meter the laser for you with my LPM if you want to know the power output. Theres nothing more annoying than having no idea if you laser is 50mW or 250mW. I can also measure IR output as well.

Because i haven't recieve it yet. :can:

Why would you link to a product you have never even seen in person?

There has been one good review of this so far. The next unit could be DOA or 12mW. You might want to take that link out of your sig until a few units are tested.

Your item was processed through and left our BETHPAGE, NY 11714 facility on June 06, 2011 at 3:46 pm

Mines FINALLY on it's way, lol. Until now it has been foreign international dispatch. I even got my order I put in after that was already being packaged lol. Oh well, mine will be here soon and I can share my thoughts on it.

I have this now as well:
30mW 650nm High Power Mid-open Red Laser Pointer Pen(2 x AAA included) - DinoDirect.com

Not a bad deal, but be prepared to open the thing up, remove the epoxy from the lens screw and have a hell of a time getting it back together in working order. I managed it, but it took a couple hours total. Focus was bad as in across my room the dot was like 1.5 inches wide. The pot on it is turned as far as it can go by default. with a lens it will burn and smoke black plastic.

I know. Thats one good review. These could be great or they could vary in power widely. None of us has any idea. That is why linking people to the page and saying "buy" seems a bit premature.

I would feel responsible if someone followed my link and got a junk laser because I jumped the gun. Thats all im saying.

Yes, yes they do. Just arent as great as had wished they were, but they work fine.

The laser is NOT 200mW, unless my 100mW came in way over spec'd at 250mW ish.

I'm leaving for a month to japan in 3 days so. I wont be able to do a proper review but i'll upload somehting with my new camera.

FYI -

I purchased the 80mW Firedragon in the original post.

It arrived today. It's a nice laser for $35. I just LPM'd it, and it hits a peak of absolutely positively exactly (get the point) 80mW, on the dot. Perfect on-spec laser.

In fact, I think there's one over-riding reality that everyone should be aware of when buying the power certified dino direct lasers. They are probably going to be ON-SPEC, which is awesome, but they're probably also NOT going to be OVER-SPEC.

I'm sure that what DD does is grab a bunch of lasers, ignore the rated power, LPM them, and then sell them in whatever classification they meter at. So if a particular model has as 60mW variant and an 80mW variant, and you purchase the 60mW, don't expect it to meter at 100. You might get lucky and buy a 60, but receive a 79. However, if that laser could meter and be sold at 80, they'd sell it at 80.

There's an up and a down side to the power certified line. I think it is an AWESOME line for the record. But I wouldn't expect any windfall magically-over-spec lasers to come out of it. That's still not a bad thing, because so far, all the feedback from this LPM'd line of DD lasers that I've heard, has been positive.

Well i got mine and it started out great. after a little while it began to flash and lose intensity and the button would stick. Now it is completely dead with nothing but a dim red light. Hopefully i can send it back soon and get a replacement.

I just received mine in the mail. Have to say I'm decently happy for what I paid. From cold start it may get bright, then dim, then get bright again. But once it is warmed up it is more stable. Just kind of temperature sensitive it seems.

Here is my FireDragon, with my large 9mm x 2mm IR filter from an old video recorder installed.

Considering these only cost 36 dollars for 80mW+, it is a very good deal.
