Energizer E2 Lithium AAA Life.

I tried a comparison between a partially used set of Eneloop Nimh batteries and a fresh set of E2 lithiums. I did this lighting a match and I did not notice any difference. Of course this is a very crude test and when I get my LPM-1 one I can report back with much better testing and plotting. But from what I am seeing so far, this laser is very well regulated.

I like the lithiums becaue they Kick a regular Alkalines butt...and they are Use and Toss....

for me...Lithiums are a better fit.

Well, larry, I'm glad you're rich, the rest of us need a battery we can reuse...

I'm concerned about the voltage drop over time, how long do the NiMH last vs Lithiums? I'd gladly spend the extra $$$ for rechargeables if they work just as well, or last even 2/3 as long!

Also, what about the old NiCAD, which are the main rechargeables avalible here in the Mountains.... are they known to work well or poorly?

I'm *wanting* to build a recharger for normal batteries, but dont worry, I dont have that skill yet. I'm jsut dirt-poor. this semester I get ~$14 per paycheck (2-week) unless I work overtime, thanks to college bills... so I'm desperate for rechargeability...

I really won't know until I get my meter and can do some rugged testing. But I would bet money the Eneloop or any other good name rechargeable battery would be the same as far as runtime vs. lithiums. Of course this had a lot to to with the driver and how well it regulates...but like I said the driver in my X105 seems to be very good.

BTW, I don't have money to burn on batteries either....and besides I have had bad luck with akalines leaking. So I am replacing everything I can with Eneloops, including my aging Nimh batteries. I only wish they made them in C and D size.

the thing that makes lithiums good is that fresh, they have a higher voltage so they burn good. they also have a high power density AND can handle a load close to their maximum. Most alkalines will drop severly when put on a load of more then 50%. Nimh are better for high drain/load, say top 75 or 80% Lithiums can do 90%+ without suffering a voltage drop.

remeber lithiums are rated to hold ~1.5v +-.2 Nimh are rated for 1.2 +-.5v alkalines are 1.5 +-.2v. nimh and lithium might last as long but you'll have a higher sustained voltage with the lithiums.

I agree but it does not mean the mw output will be higher depending on the regulation...god I wish I had my meter so I could check it for sure..lol
