Ok I was wanting to get the RPL 300mw from http://www.optotronics.com/ but my dad said no :| doesn’t believe I should spend 1000 on a laser so my next laser I am going for would be the nova 105x now in order to get this I am going to sell my dx laser. So I guess the main question I am asking is would the 105 be better?
My dx laser has a divergence of about 1.9mrad :) good hu? a power level of I don’t know what but it can light matches in a glass jar so its got to be above what ever it takes to light matches but it can only light them up to 2ft away don’t know if its because of the divergence witch I think it is because the dot gets to be 2x in size or if its because of mass amounts of ir coming from it. I can see the beam in my room with 4 60w light bulbs but I can barely see it out side.
The nova laser has only 105-110 mw that is suppose to be 1/2 of my lasers power but that’s no ir. Suppose to be able to light matches but can it do it in a glass jar? Or from greater than 2 ft? Also the divergence is <1.2mrad so that’s a lot better than mine

so I am stuck I don’t know wither to spend the extra 100$ to upgrade to the 105 or keep my dx laser that is doing great and burns thing but has divergence and may only have 1/2 power the other being ir

get the x-105, i can tell you that the build quality is much higher, they are all tested for power output. the higher power lasers from dx are usually under-powered and tend to break easly and sometimes will die with in a few days. i have a x-65 thats pushing an average of almost 20 mw over spec. (read my sig.)

one more thing, Nova lasers is based in canada and i BELIEVE that dx is based in china, (if im wrong, please correct me) so your order will come quicker and will be safer from customs depending where you live because i live in the US.

Go for the X-105..easy choice....

Place them side by side....any test them......

I think you will find the comparison isn't even worth mentioning!

I do warn you.,.Once that X-105 enters your hands..you WILL be addicted to this little hobby!!!

I would just run the DX till it finally gives up...
Nothing wrong with having a "Beater Laser" lying around to take out when you would never risk your Nova!!!!

Rain..Snow..heavy fog.......if it dies..what are you out????

Run it..and have a ball...

THough with an X-105 sitting there..you may never take the DX out again!!!

Good Luck to you!!!!

Absolutely go for the metal case....

Worth every single Penny!!!

I use a rubber Dowel cap over my laser's appature to keep it clean,
And as far as cleaning the lens..there is really only one option.

Lens Pen Micro-Pro from Lenspen.com

14 bucks..shipping included...and can be used on lasers Cameras Cell Phones..ect..ect..ect....

I agree...get the package deal with the case. You will receive 1045 lightyears good towards the purchase of accessories, and most likely a free diffraction grating. This all pays for itself since the package is only $20.00 more.

thos difraction gratings are 20$ apeace but they look really cool. aways so is the case worth the extra 20? I am kinda looking for somting that i can put into my pocket like my old leadlight case it works good but i didnt kno if this pen would fit in their even tho it looks almost identical to it.
o ya for the lightyears could you use say the 1045 toward half the difraciton grating and then pay the other 10$ or must you have 2000 to buy it?

Everyone that has bought the Combo for 20 bucks extra has gotten the metal case, lightyears, membership, AND a FREE deffraction grating to play with!!!

The case isn't something you can slide in you pocket..Unless you have HUGE pockets.. ;D

the X-105 MAY fit in your old case..but I'm not sure you will have to test it and let us all know!

I see the Nova case as the best day to day protection for your laser...it is stout and padded really well...

The gratings are 22.99 and you need to be a member to get them at that price...otherwise you will pay 27.00. You really are losing out by not getting the package deal...IMO.

anyway I just bough a lens pen micro for it.....and I was wondering about the diffraction grading thing could you request one in the comments section because I really did like to see the matrix one it looked cool or the fan one

Since the grating really isn't part of the package deal, it's more of a "Thank You For Your Order".
WHatever one you get would be random...but they are all nice!!!

Mine was "Time Tunnel"

Gazoo..what one did you get with your X-105??

I received the "Star Clusters" with mine and it is very cool. Especially being able to see all of the tiny little beams it makes.
At night I shine it at the trees and it is impressive to say the least. But like you said they are all neat.. :)
