DX True 50, or DX Ultrafire 90?

Im stumped, I got my True 30 and love it, but now I want more :D. Im just not sure which one to get. Ive heard mixed things about the Ultrafire, such as its output ranges from 20mW-80mW. But the True 50 Ive heard it pretty stable, and since there is only a few dollars in difference, which one do you think will have a more stable output?

Hi

Well i would consider your purchase as to what you want it to do before just picking one a bit stronger. I have a scopeguy20 modified laserglow galileo and if i was to step up past it, i would most likely save up and pass that 125mW range. Thats just me tho, i am very happy with the beam and dot provided by the galileo mod i have.

What do you want more power for? Maybe I can make a suggestion if I know the goal. -Glenn

If possible, I would like the beam to be seen clearly in dim light, and be able to pop balloons, light matches, very bright beam at night, and cut electric tape faster than a 30mW. Primarily burning stuff, I know a red is better for that, but I just really like green lasers :)

I will default to the recommendations of others on that as i am not sure of burning capacities of lasers in the green range. That said here is a site that does claim ability via power levels and maybe can assist in your mW desires,

http://www.laserglow.com/index.php?aries

You will need to look at the tabs in the box to find capabilities

Don't forget your glasses / goggles!

Good luck

Wait... your true 30 can cut tape?

Impressive. I really thought you needed 60+ to do that.

the 30 will burn stuff, especially if it is focused properly. with the stock lense i can get things to smoke if i hold it like 2mm away. who knows how much of that is from the ir though...

ive owned both the true 50mW and the Ultrafire 90mW. and your gonna wanna go with the ultrafire 90mW. the 50mW is good but the heatsink is horrible so it cuts out and dims. the case itself is weak too, if you drop it once it's dead.

the ultrafire 90mW is powerful, has a very good heatsink, and the case is metal and strong.

ive ordered to 50mW (cuz the previous one broke too quickly). then the second one broke shortly after.

You know mikeey, you've been advising the ultrafire 90mW for a while and only one of them has been more than 30mW and even yours was busted. Personally, i say go with the ture 50mW. your much more likely to get a good one than with the ultracrap excuse me ultrafire. Oh and i dropped my dx 50 smack onto the tile from about four feet and it still works fine.

well actually...lets just say I kinda broke my Ultrafire...shh..... lol.
didnt you read the post i made somewhere where i foudn out my laser is much greater than 30mW and then i accidently broke it. i never was sure if it was 90mW , but i know for a fact the one i had was MUCH greater than 30mW. the case was strong too, the only reason why mine broke was i used plyers and tried to force it out and broke it. so after i had forced it out (and after i had realized it was more than 30mW and it was too late) i then saw there was no sticker indicating 30mW. which means, no, it wasnt 30mW.

so there you have it.

i still suggest the ultrafire 90mW. just dont take it apart, its ment to stay in 1 piece, and its very well put together too.

Thanks for you guys help, but some minor financial issues came up (need to buy other things), and I'll probably buy the Kai Domain 50mW for $26.

Well if you have 26 dollars then buy the true 30. Its tried and true and most of them are greater than 30mW. I have heard nothing but bad from kai domain and their fifty is usually less than 30mW while spewing tons of ir. Glad to hear you got a good one mikeeey, rotten luck you seem to have though-3 broken dx lasers, sorry man.
