Hi Raul, welcome to the forum!
Please do a bit of searching on the site before you ask questions.
In this case I am going to answer since even searching a lot might not guide you completely to answer this question.

For seeing the beam clearly at night you need about 30mW or 50mW.
DX's site is not working right now but the green lasers which I would recommend are the:
50mW True - this one is the most expensive of the 3 but most visible (only a bit more though)
30mW True - this is the most sold one.. cheap and bright
30mW Kaleidoscopic - this is a VERY beautiful laser. It is about the same price as the other 30mW but has a head which can screw on and off to create hundreds of tiny dots instead of one. If you turn that head it will also make all the dots move around each other in a magical way. If you screw the head off, it is just a normal pointer at around 30mW. The other 30mW may be more powerful but not by a lot.

In fact, I suggest you begin with the Kaleidoscopic one - as it costs about the same and can work in the same way AND you get the brilliant bonus which makes it into a whole little lightshow, it is easily one of the best starter lasers. Beam will be very visible in the dark, especially if there is fog/smoke in the air.
They should all cost between $18 and $25 if I recall correctly.

If you are interested in something which can burn (yes, handheld lasers can burn stuff) and also want quite a visible beam the 200mW Red Burning Laser Pointer (the version with a rounded head) is the best option there is. You can buy it from DX or even better, get it from O-like for a bit more, but with batteries and charger!

Welcome to the forum... :yh:

Don't forget to read the Newcommers Threads here...
http://laserpointerforums.com/laser_pointer_forums_3/forum/

As to your question... any green laser of 50mw and up can be seen at night..

Buy the highest power output for your financial budget....
And don't forget to buy some Laser Safety Goggles to go with that Laser...

[EDIT]... well Jaseth... we must have been typing at the same time...
(but I type with one finger)

Haha yes I write faster than you :na:
But you also had some extra input, so good thing you posted the message anyway :D

And swoop- read me and Jerry's first posts and you will have your answer. I have heard of the 50mW being at about the same power as the 30mW but mine is doing great.. 49mW average and 57mW peak power (when I tested a few months ago).

You may also want to take a look at www.ledshoppe.com
They have some green lasers which are almost identical in price and appearance, but the ones I have from there are actually higher output than the 50mW from DX.

Thanks for fast answers, and to Jaseth, you bought the old ones, but people are complaining about the new ones DX true 50mw. If i remember right (DX is not working) the bad ones has laser warning sticker with green laser beam and dot on the sticker(not red), and are even less than 30mw. How much output those 50mW from leddshope has? And when did you bought one? Are they better quality than DX ?

The "True 50mW" is the one I own from their site.. I was not aware that they had changed to a new version.
I can sadly not refer to my one to see whether the warning sticker has a red or green beam printed on because I took it off to make it look more like a harmless pen (otherwise they confiscate them at our school, not that I would ever use it for anything dangerous or illegal).

I have 3 of the Ledshoppe 50mW ones. They are a little bit shorter than the DX and the battery compartment is silver and not black matte coloured.
While the DX does 49mW average, the Ledshoppe do as much as 54mW, 56mW and 67mW average and really I prefer them in all ways to the DX one.
There are also coupon codes for a discount for Ledshoppe here

I've had in my hands the new true models (5/30/50/100) and each one was more powerfull than the lower. for the money, I strongly recommend you to get the true 50mW, 4$ do really make difference against the 30mW one.

I already ordered 50mw one from ledshoppe, I think buying from DX is RISKY (click to see why)
I've been buying from DX for about a year now with no regrets or risks...
everything eventually shows up...
The shipping is Uber Slow.. but you can't beat the prices and Free Shipping.

Once in a while the site does go down... just like any other site could...
That does not make DX RISKY...

Where do you think RayFoss and O-like are situated....

Jerry
I agree with both posts. I've made more than a hundred and fifty orders from dealextreme only 2 didn't arrive and one came defective. You usually see 10 guys saying the product is shit on every product, but note that for every 10 that say this there are a thousand that bought it and as the porduct was Ok didn't say nothing.

It is working, but slow, and when you will be able to open that link, you will know why it is risky TO BUY TRUE LASER, you got it all wrong, dx is great site, I have bought lots of items from there.
