At nearly $900 for a 250mw green, I think I'll pass on a genuine RPL. The DX "firepoint" series lasers appear to be an RPL clone...
Pseudo has them for much cheaper, I think a 300mW RPL "prometheus" green goes for about 700. And the average will most likely be about 325-375mW.
Well, good luch with those DX ones. Someone bought a 20mW blue RPL style from DX. Its power was below 0.5 mW! DX is good when it's about low powered greens (<50mW or so) but when it comes to their high powered ones, they are often underspec.

You can get a 400mW RPL style from OEM! It is $500 cheaper then from Optotronics! And, it is cheaper then DX!

how often are beam delays? if you let go of the button just for a second and press it again, will there be a delay? i think its a bit overly safe. i mean theres already a key and shutter heck guns don't even have that many safety features!

The delay is between pressing the switch and the laser actually firing...

It is a Viasho VBP-I-532 and it smokes my DX 200mW red as far as burning goes.
Outside at night, It is like a solid green line of matter that goes on forever.
I can't tell you what the true power is as at the moment as I don't own a power meter. However, I have never witnessed a handheld
laser with this much power.
It appears to be the same one that DX sells as it comes with the same accessories pictured on their website down to the goofy flowered
bag that holds everything.

These more reliable high performance & quality components allow us to spec our RPL to a higher duty cycle, much lower divergence and stand behind the RPL and offer them with a standard 12 month warranty.
I was told by our manufacturer earlier this year that they were marketing a cost reduced version of their VBP line to many retailers in China and that the body style of the RPL should be branded to differentiate the RPL from these cheaper lasers.
This resulted in our "silver body style" with the RPL name and Optotronics logo.
We still have a small number of the old "unmarked/black" RPL lasers, to be exact ( 4 of the RPL-165, 1 RPL-200, 6 RPL-265, 3 RPL-300, 2 RPL-325 and 2 RPL-425 lasers along with a small number of RPL blue units) after these are gone, only the new style with the Optotronics name engraved on them will be available.
If anyone thinks they are either saving money or getting a better performing "firepoint" or other cheap RPL imitation, find a friend who has the real RPL and compare side by side or post an update here in 6-8 months and let us know how their cheaper laser performs at that time, if it still works at all.
We offer a high performance product and believe it's more than worth the extra cost and labor involved in production of our RPL products.

That makes sense! (Why would places like DX sell the same quality product at cheaper prices?) Thanks for clearing that up!
I looked at all the options out there. I knew I could find something cheaper... something I could afford a little easier. But in the end I had to ask myself. Do I want to spend this much money one something that will probably be underspec'd and will probably die after the 30, 60 or 90 day (at best) warranty expires. Or, do I want to get something that will probably be overspec'd and will definitely last at least a year or else it will get repaired for free from Optotronics (provided it is not abused/misused). At the end of that year I can trade it through the upgrade program. Or, I can just keep what I've got and expect it to last for many years to come.
I just purchased a genuine RPL-265 from Jack yesterday. I can't wait to get it!!! I'll make sure to post lots of pics and report on it's performance. I feel confident I won't be disappointed. It's a feeling I wouldn't have had purchasing from DX or OEM.

One is a US based retailer (OEM) vs a Hong Kong based retailer (DX).
I have read nothing but good things about OEM (Frothy Chimp).
DX on the other hand, Can at times be a pain in the ass to get issues resolved.
This comes from a guy that recently plunked down over $600.00 for a so-called 400mW "RPL type" laser to a Hong Kong based
retailer (Kaidomain).
Talk about hypocrisy. In the end, I may or may not be sorry. Time will tell.
