with my bad experiance of being sent a faulty laser, and playing with my friends 20mW, they both dont produce heat. this just made me worry that the working 50mW wouldnt either.
so i just had a simple question, does a 50mW DX laser produce heat and burn things? i saw in the reviews people were saying the only con is it has a bad IR filter and easily lets the IR through. doesnt that mean it will burn? which is actually a good thing lol

Hey - where in the world did you get that bad infor from, about hte 50mw's not having good IR filters ? Every single one I have seen at 50mw and below is VERY well filtered. But - if you get a nice tight beamed one, you can expect ot to burn somewhat :)

yep right here in the dealextreme reviews thats what people said

but if it is well filtered doesnt that mean it wont burn things? do you know if a 50mW is supposed to produce any heat?

Oh - yeah, they put that up there to protect themselves - lots of folks have tested these, and found that the IR filter works just fine in it :) It is their 100mw and up that have some IR issues.

As far as heat - you are getting them mixed up with the power level I assume...The laser itself might get a little toasty from prolonged use, but it packs enough power to burn things
