I want to buy one of the new pulsed pen-style lasers from DL, anyone know who makes these or have opinions on them? Psuedo, I'm really interested in your thoughts, if any about these things.

From DL's page : "Pulsed laser technology can also be used by satellite destroyers and outer space lasers."

...What the heck are they talking about?

I doubt it can destroy satellites!

I think DL is trying to make their product seem cooler to uneducated customers by saying random crap like that. Maybe that bit of information would be believable to a 10 year old whose knowledge on lasers is limited to what he sees in Star Wars.
And if that's not the case, they are just plain ridiculous.

I think they are the same as Psuedos and the same that Nova lasers has, if I recall Psudeo said they are all CNI lasers. To me the "newer" ones on DL look thicker than the normal pen style so I hope that means better heat dispersion.

As to the actual details I can't really say, I've grown accustomed to not being able to take DLs spec at face value. DL states its test period and average power and all, but that's been proven BS before and I've yet to see any proof otherwise - a blind review would be interested (IE, not a product that DL sends to you for a review, but a product bought as a regular customer).

Considering the prices are just slightly lower than Nova's 150mW though, I'd suggest going with Nova. A good track record versus a track record of lies and BS is worth the +$20 to me.

And now for the shameless self-plug here: If you are interested in a similar laser at much better deal, you may want to check out the 532nm package in my preorder: http://www.laserpointerforums.com/forums/YaBB.pl?num=1198054189

Thanks for posting. I already have an X125 and a DL 125. The DL worked great until it experienced a nasty fall to the pavement followed by unsuccessful emergency surgery at the hands of Dr. Desoldering iron. His condolences were of little comfort, and I am suspicious of his credentials. The X125 is killer, but that's already been covered thoroughly in these forums.

I'm considering an X175, but Dragon's pulsed offering has me intrigued. I'm also considering getting something from you, Psuedo. Companies and vendors aside, are pulsed lasers typically more efficient than CW lasers of the same wavelength and power source?

In this case, not particularly. This "pulsed" laser is, as far as I understand it, quasi-CW. The pulses are simply a signal from the driver turning the laser on and off rapidly - all electronics. Almost as if you were just pressing the switch extremely fast. At best, you may extort a few extra percent from the KTP. This, as opposed to something like a q switched or mode-locked laser in which the pulse formation is much more of an optical difference - bringing its own set of quirks and qualities (such as letting you reach very high peaks with very short pulse-widths).

Well, Wicked's lasers also have "open cut healing power" and "tesla technology" which, from my pov, is total BS³.

About two or something years ago I searched about the "open cut healing power" in the WL forums (not LC) and there was a thread about that, people were just saying stuff like "it just burns way more, doesn't do anything" or "maybe hypothetically lasers could do that but not those".

Sure was interesting.

The Aurora GP is the world's most powerful laser pointer

Pass!! I'm out!! Done!!

I saw that statement writen somewhere else ::)

Besides , it's also the god of laser pointers....not the king, not the lord....the GOD....ok...
It looks to me that DL is slowly following WL's advertising technique. ::)

This almost determines me to make a 3W IR pointer with a duty cycle of 10 seconds and contact guiness so WL can take that article off their crappy hacker safe site :D
