Dim DX True 30mw

I have one of the true 30mw green lasers from DX and it worked perfectly for about 2 days then all of a sudden it got really dim. I put new batts in thinking that was the problem but its still just as dim ?

Anyone know how to fix this issue ?

Try placing the laser in the freezer for a Miniute or two.

Then try it...

My newwish laser is an Ice Queen.

I tried everything, then I finally found out how temp sensitive mine was.

Putting a DPSS laser in a freezer can lead to internal condensation and misalignment of optics due to contraction and expansion. Not recommended!

DOn't freeze it..Just chill it!!!

Chilling components to find a bad or failing circuit is a basic part of diagnostics.

I suggest chilling it only as a diagnostic tool.

Now that is bizzare!

Any chance the laser has been dropped???

Have you taken it apart???

And Are you sure the batts are NEW??

Does the switch feel like it is working properly (the same as it always had)

Can you tell if the batts are making good contact??

After that...I'm not sure what you can do.

hasnt been dropped
havent taken it apart
batts are fine
switch feels fine
should be making good contact

it seems to get brighter if I warm it up a little , I held it fairly tight for about a minute and then it was bright till it cooled off ???

The first half second or so after I press the button it looks like it used to but then it dims down really fast.

im guessing its cause its just a cheapie. I think im going to try return it and buy a DX True 100 or 200 and pray that dosent break too

Boy does this sound familiar, http://www.laserpointerforums.com/forums/YaBB.pl?num=1189716085/0#7 I bought the DX200mw one and am having the same problems.
I have e-mail DX and asked for some assistance on my next 200mw purchase, rather than going throught the hastle of return shipping and them refunding me Bla Bla Bla. All they would do is offer me about an 18.00 discount on my next purchase. So I have dissected it " What a PITA" in an attempt to get it to work as advertised.

I suggest spending a little bit more and purchasing from a suggested dealer on this site. Then try and mod your old laser, see hows its made and how it works.

The red you see is the 808nm from the diode leaking out. Be careful as there is likely more energy there than you can see! Your laser sounds like the KTP is defective, get an RMA and return it.
