Have any of you been able to use the Hong Kong tracking number in our postal system? Every time I enter it in the USPS tracking box, it returns a "not found" result. According to DX, my True 30mw green was shipped on the 22 of September and all they can tell me is to check my post office. As a first time customer, I'm not very thrilled with their shipping.

Yes the tracking is not working properly but have faith I've just had 5 parcel from dealextreme today even with the postal strike in the UK ;)

It finally arrived with today's mail :) I'm not sure how long it will last but from what I initially see, not bad at all for $24 and change!
I'll keep you folks informed.

Shipping seems to take a few eternities from DX. Of well at least the stuff gets there. Shipping from DX to me usually takes between 2-4 weeks.

Yeah tell me about it! I'm still waiting on a true 5mW green that I ordered a month ago. The hong kong tracking site said it left for the US but there s no way to track it in the US. I'll just have to stick it out a little longer I guess...

I've had similar issues, my True 30mW and True 5mW's are shipped but the tracking number isn't working. They supposedly shipped just a few days ago so now to play the waiting game and hope for the best!

Always happens to me too with DX. Even if they provide a tracking number, it doesnt track anything beyond hongkong. The page just says 'left hong kong for its destination on date..'. Mostly they are here within the week once that happens though.

I sent an email asking about the status of my True 5mW which was $17.95 and here is what I got back:
Hi Jason,
Thank you for contacting DealExtreme.com Customer Support.
Really sorry that the tracking number is not available for the order whose value is less than $15.
Please wait for it patiently.
Please feel free to let me know if you have any other questions.
Best regards,
Tiffany

Yeah, they have some bad customer support most of the time. They will say something and not truely follow through everything but at the prices you just have to wait it out and hope for the best. Worst comes to worse you only lost $18.

I personally don't mind the wait for the shipping as Rhith says 'but at the prices you just have to wait it out and hope for the best. Worst comes to worse you only lost $18.' ;)

Yeah, I agree. It came just now and for the price it was worth the wait. This is a very nice pointer. It seems very well built and very bright for a 5mW. I think I might order another!

DealExtreme seems safe enought to me, placed my first order mid september and another later that day, both turned up the day after postal strikes in UK each minus one item which should have been sent by now as it was out of stock.

They can sell their items so cheap with free delivery because they have few employees and low overheads.

So are all the lasers below 150mw true output values? Heard bad things about their 200mw lasers :(

Hey guys,

I hate it when people complain about the long wait for the shipping from DX.

This is not a shipping problem at all. All airmail postal works in the exact same way. You are getting FREE shipping which is the cheapest form of airmail shipping. Be glad that there is even a tracking number.

This is how it works. You can track it on the HK post site until it leaves HK.

Then the thingy will be in transit in god knows where.

You WILL NOT find it on the USPS system until it reaches US or whatever country you are in.

Once it arrives in the US and passes custom, the US tracking system will log it as "Arrival at unit" and then it shows up on the USPS tracking. Once there it will take a few days to reach you. Checking the tracking number on USPS will show it to be delivered.

This is my experience on all DX parcels and also on all things shipped to me in the US via tracked airmail. You can't track it until it arrives in the country of destination and you can only track it until it leaves the country of departure. When it is in the middle of transit there is no way to track it.

I don't think of it as a problem as all. In fact the only delay comes at how long DX takes to get the parcel to HK post. Once HK post receives it and marks it as leaving HK I know I WILL receive my parcel in a fixed amount of time 1-2 weeks.

If you order anything from overseas from anywhere, it will take a minimum of 2 weeks to reach you by airmail which is a heck of a lot faster than surface parcel post. So be very happy that something you buy all the way from China/HK arrives in under a month from when you order it.

Bottomline: There is NO shipping problem in 90% of cases.
Buy anything from overseas without priority/express shipping and it will take this long as well.

For overseas shipping this is a good ETA guide:
Overnight shipping=expensive as hell and still spend a day or 2 in customs=3days
Express/Priority mail=cost as much as your pointer=1-2weeks
Airmail=cheap, can be registered for tracking, smaller parcels=3-4 weeks
Surface post=for parcels and larger stuff and slow as hell=1-2months

Free Registered Airmail delivered in 3-4 weeks is a VERY good deal and should not be considered a problem like many people are saying

Takes me 10 days from the DX E-Mail saying "shipped" here to Missouri, USA.
Postman makes me sign for the bubblewraped envelope.

I am happy exept for the $100 laser that died after 1 hour. @#$%&## [smiley=angry.gif]
