That is pretty nice.But after seeing the way the slab of YVO[sub]4[/sub] and KTP are just glued to pieces of metal like that I cant really understand why everybody says it's a pain to align, it looks like it's just stuck together :p

That laser looks old and handmade. If you look at a "modern" DX assembly it is much more compact and not so easy to take apart. Since prices on greens dropped I guess the producers have figured out ways to make the process faster andmore industrial.

Yea you're right....that slab of brass that the KTP is glued too is massive ;D

The dead DX greenies that I have taken apart show signs of hand assembly.

To get the light path right they have to set the intermediate lenses at some very odd angles and hold them in place by centre dotting around them before gluing.
