Cheapest green laser

Im going to get a x65(cant wait) in about a month but until then i wanted a green laser just to see how a green laser looks, so i was wondering what is the cheapest green laser and add shipping to it so basicly the total cost of one , i dont really care about build quality ir filter or anything basicly aslong as its green .

Ive heard of dealextreme, would that be a good place to get a cheap green, i think i saw some that were like $17 dollers, is that a good place to get one cheap?

Yes that is an excellent source of cheap lasers, but the shipping may take 2-5 weeks :-/

In other words....by the time you get the DX If you ordered it today..Your Nova may already be in your hands!

If you are going to buy the Nova soon..save the $ and put it towards the Nova, or use it for the case combo deal..or the TNT shipping...Maybe that can get you the Nova even sooner....

Well i figured i would get it about a week or two before the nova because im gona get it in actualy bout a month and half or so, and i figured i would use it for aiming at baloons to make sure i dont get a reflection then i can fire up the nova, and for just shining it around my room without being worried bout blinding myself cause i gots lots of reflective stuff, my tv, my computer, a plasma globe, my ceiling fan the shiny metel on it, a huge mirror on my wall and random other shiney stuff lol.

I was thinking about paying 3 dollors more for the 20mw but i think ill stick with 5mw so i dont go blind.

Besides i would like to put it in a ziplock and try shining it in the rain and its only like $16 so it wouldnt realy be bad if i got some water in it i could still possible salvage the diode and make a 50mw infarared or sometin

offtopic: But has anyone tried taking the diode out of a dx laser how easy is it?

That is EXACTLY what I do, and it is very effective. If I am going to pop a balloon without goggles (oh no he didn't!) , I will shine my 5 mW on it first so I know where the direct reflection will be. Then...there is no longer a balloon :

Yeah i was thinkin that would be good so i dont get flashblindness from it, luckly the black sharpier would absorb light and its reflection would be large so even if i just happened to get a reflection of it might go away, But im definantly not going to try this out.

And i could pop a baloon with the 5mw All i need is a pin some tape and a bet to my freinds that i can pop a baloon with a laser ;D

I own both the True 5mW and True 30mW lasers from Deal Extreme and both are great. With a lens and my True 5mW I've actually popped a balloon. I had my 115mW CNI Pen well before I got either of my DX lasers but I wanted something else just for fun and if my friends really wanted to see a laser I would let them hold something that I wouldn't be too worried about. But it is true about the shipping, my True 5mW got here in three weeks and my True 30mW came in just under four weeks and I ordered them together. Even if they arrive after your Nova gets to you you will still be glad you have them. ;D

actually the ir diodes in DX 5's will be around 150mW, although they are very hard to focus, and sometimes aren't your normal 5.6mm can.

Wow that would be a pretty good burner just would have to look at the dot with a camera.

Has anyone tried focusing a ir laser diode, Did it work? does aixis housin not work for it because it would be pretty cool to take a 16 dollor laser and make a burner out of it and it would still run of the driver circuit in it,

How about using the colaminator in the laser and maybe taking the crystals outa it is that possible?

Okay this is important if the true 5mw acidentaly got into my eyes is it bad because on the reviews i saw people sayin u have to be careful and not get it in ur eyes, shouldnt it be safe since its only 5mw?


Edit: looked at the website again says u need extensive exposure so as long as i dont hold it in front of my eye for a minute straight, like people at my school hold red ones in front of their eyes and im like ur gona go blind they just say its like staring at the sun...which can still blind you..lol

5mW you should be fine. At that level you only really have to be worried if you point it at your face and just look at it. I've gotten reflections off of my 115mW and I'm still good. But you should always use proper safety gear and caution!

Okay good i was thinking for some reason green is worse at the same mw because its brighter but i guess since its the same power as a 5mw red it should be fine
