Try putting a black spot on it from a "SHARPIE" Marker &/or using a magnifying glass to focus the 'DOT' tighter...................rob

100 mW will light a dark coloured match quite easily, but only when it focussed - try with a lens in between.

I thought a 100mW greenie would light a red match in notime o_O

Thought it was underspecc =/
Maybe it really is 100mW ( or very close to it ) :)

I also have a DX true 100mW and it doesn't light matches, even with black head. It may have something to do with modehopping of my laser. But I can pop balloons easily with it.

jiannis, I know that this sounds odd, but some kinds of matches light easier than others, whether they have a black spot on them or not. strange, no ? Try matches from several other different "BOOKS" & then put the black spot on them. Hope this helps ya out...............rob

Given the "ideal match" (very dry, dark color not waxed or varnish covered, etc.) and a well focused tiny spot, less than 60 mW will light a match.

Protect them peepers, always use goggles on these experiments! -Glenn

Well, I have lit up a red match with a real 30-45mW green laser, of course focused.

A 100000000mw laser cant light a match if its not focused correctly.

Err.... well... maybe a 10000000mw will, but anything thats poorly focused wont.
