I was wondering which of the following 4 green laser pointer models i should get:

Buy S258 301 200mw 532nm Adjustable-focus Green Laser Pointer Pen (Black) in US$ 32.43 in Low Price- Free Shipping

China Wholesale 200mw Extremely Dangerous Green Laser Burning Pointer | YoTang.com

Buy 200mW 532nm Adjustable Green Beam Laser Pointer with Lock (Black) in US$ 30.13 in Low Price- Free Shipping

Buy Laser Promotion 200mW 532nm Portable Green Laser Pointer (Black) in US$ 40.96 in Low Price- Free Shipping

Yes i do realize tht these are all from chinese sites that are known for scams and under powered lasers by most, but i have done past transactions from all these websites for optics which ended up being quite legit and awesome cuz i payed half the price for the same quality.

i just want to know out of these 4 models which one i should get for a clear beam, power, and for burning based on specs and design. Please dont advice me about the lack of credibilty of these websites.. BUT.. if you do know a better 200 mW 532nm laser in this price range plz provide a link :p
thnks.

Your request is kind of an oxymoron.

You want advice based on design, and specs.

Design doesn't really matter, the same module is used in all of the lasers, just the host (the external case of the laser) is different.

The specs, you yourself understand are pure BS.

You might as well just pick one randomly, who knows, you might get lucky.

If not, stick to the following companies next time; laserglow, jetlasers, optotronics, lazerer, laserbtb, lasever, o-like, rayfoss.

The cheapest true 200mW lasers are ~$100-$120.

Hi Badass,

I haven't seen many people on LPF mention purchasing from those sites since I've been here so I doubt there will be a lot of people familiar with those particular models.

I know you mentioned that you didn't want to hear that these were questionable websites but if you are asking which model is best for being on spec probably none are.

You really cannot find a 200mW 532nm green for $30 and the reason they are that price is because they probably aren't close to 200mW.

Also for burning with green are you aware of IR leakage? You will need to make sure your green laser has an IR filter or that your goggles block IR and green 532nm if you are going to be looking at the dot up close for burning, otherwise the invisible IR could harm your vision permanently. Cheap green laser such as these most likely have no IR filter and a large component of the total mW output that they quote as the 200mW could be invisible IR.

If you want a cheap laser than by all means try them out but they will most likely not be anything close to 200mW if that is what you are actually hoping to get.

Maybe someone on here has tried out those models but this is my best guess as to what the view on the forums here would be about those, but if anyone knows more than me please correct me if I'm wrong...

EDIT: Sorry this post is kind of redundant IE beat me to it. Those are some good suggestions he mentioned to you on places to buy from. :)

Hi, thought I'd bump this instead of clogging your forum up with another newbie thread.

I'm considering buying a green laser, would like some bang for my buck and for it to be handheld/pen style. It will be used at night for star pointing but I would like it to have some power behind it. I'm also UK based if that helps.

Can anyone explain what I should be looking for? Thanks.

well like most of the pros in these forums would tell you that you cant get a powerful laser without expending some money ..... let me explain you something really quick ... fix focus lasers are great for pointing out in the sky and for long distance while adjustable focus lasers are more for burning . whats my point ? you said that you want a laser for astronomy but that can have some power behind it so im assuming that you mean POWER for burning ?
heres a good laser for astronomy (my opinion) LZTN - 532nm 50mW Smallest Green Laser Pointer
this one is great for burning (power ) and astronomy
Power Rock Green laser Torch 100mW /Focusable&Waterproof [OL-PRGL100] - $72.99 : Zen Cart!, The Art of E-commerce

i would go with the small one since you are in a budget ^_^

 Last reply on the thread was over two months ago... please don't necropost. (Meaning bring up dead threads, where the OP is long gone.)
