hey there. iv decided to replace my 5mw green laser pointer with a newer 10mw green laser but im kinda curious of the power differences between the 2.

With the laser i have now, if it accidentally shines in a eye for a quarter of a second it wont really blind you, i have no intention of shining it in eyes but if this does happen will it be okay? also, how much brighter and more powerful is a 10mw laser compared to 5mw one i have now?

thanks in advance!

A 10mW green laser is twice as powerful as a 5mW green laser (assuming both are performing at rated power) ;)

What's wrong with your 5mW that you want a 10mW?

about a year ago i droped the laser in the dust. i think a few particles got on the lens inside of it so its not as bright anymore. Also im just looking for something thats more powerful but not to dangerous.

Have you tried cleaning it up? In actual practice, you will find very little difference between 5mW and 10mW. If you are using it as a pointer, get another 5mW and save yourself some money. If you just want more power, a 10mW will NOT satisfy your craving.

There will barely be any difference between 5mW and 10mW brightness wise, if you want a bright laser then pick up a 30mW off of DealExtreme for ~$25.
