Hi folks... I have actually been reading this form for a wile and with the purchase of my new EBAZER 50mw, had to register :) I have gotten it to light matches with no mods or lenses but have to be very close.

QUESTIONS:
What type of bats to use, rechargeable or not? don't care!
Should I buy goggles?
AND... of course, can I mod it?

post a pic if you want to know about modding it. If it takes AA batteries, go get some Energizer e2 Lithium.

Goggles - depends on your application. If you intend to burn and do close work goggles are a good idea. For astronomy, not really needed.

Well it is fun for mostly burning stuff. I figure the only reason it burns n e thing is no IR filter. Could be wrong.

Try some e2 lithium AAA's it should bost the power a few mW. As far as modifications - I don't know on this one. One way to find out is pull off the cap and look at the board. take some pics along the way so you can put it back together easily.

The metal button means you should probably face the button down when removing and inserting the board so it will clear it. I usually sharpie a line on the brass housing and the body of the laser as I'm removing it so I can line it up again when I put it back together.

hey mate, glad u seem to have gotten a decent laser off eBay..... like i did 2 :D.... our look pretty similar except mines silver. as for modding there are LOTS of guides on here and some are very comprehensive, though i think the man to talk to would be SenKat, others too i assume but ive had the most dealings with him. anyway welcome mate have fun in forums and with lasers :p they are VEEERY addictive ....

Ok got it apart. Here is a pic. Didn't mess with pot, but did polish the inside of the pen and the outside of module. Seems to be more stable. Meaning when I give it power, it's instantly bright, no lag.

for a simple pot mod, just turn the screw - gently (usually clockwise) until the beam goes out then back it up till the beam comes back on. THat should get you close to max power. Hook up the batteries externally to power it while you pot mod it.
