Guess I missed that post about temps. If you are working with temps like that then a green would work fine. I am still unsure if you will ever achieve an output bright enough to have a sufficiently bright beam and dot in full daylight especially not without sacrificing size and dishing out some serious cash. You would need it to be bright enough to be able to pull it out and use it as a rapid aim assistant beam so you really need the beam to be really damn bright in the daytime. I have doubts if even a 2W 532nm could be enough to be useful in that situation.

lol, 1 W would be enough. What about using iron sights + laser?

In full daylight and with the intention of using it in a life or death situation... IDK, that would have to be one bright ass laser for me to even think about relying on it to aim.

A 1W green laser doesn't sound bright enough? *raised eyebrows* I have never seen a 1W green but I bet it is bright as hell.

Actually you may not even need a gun.
Blast him in the face with a 2W+ 445 and you will likely blind him. Certainly will get its attention.

Get yourself one of these and problem solved:

A 445nm 2W blast to a bears eyes could easily blind it but they also have incredible hearing and smell. That thing would likely still hit you even if you were lucky enough to mostly blind both eyes.

It seems to me like you would need one hell of an IR pump diode(3-4W?) to push 1W+ of 532nm. Your battery life on 16340s would probably fail and duty cycles would also likely take a hit. I would also hate for you to get some insane laser built just to find out that it isn't sufficiently bright to be useful during the day like you hope. I hope you are able to succeed but I fear it might set you back significantly more than $500.

No sence in it at all... First off unless your in total sheer broad daylight with no trees or anything else that would cast a shadow or serve as a back drop there is no SAFE reason to need anymore than 50 mW for this purpose. He supposedly has a WL Krypton, let him strap that sucker to his defence in the woods gun.

Blinding a person or animal with a laser used to be frowned upon in this forum and no respectable builder would put this together knowing its intended purpose which is after all just for off the hip target acquisitioning *coughing BS*.

Usually all things laser related I was fine about, guess over the years the more I'm around these unit especially at the higher powers I really start thinking about the saftey aspect.

Those that know me here know I'm not terribly abrasive, but this member although has edit his post started off on the wrong foot for me. "Build me a laser" for an opening sounds a whole lot of wrong for some reason.

Take that crapola over to the WL forum and see how they come at you. Oh never mind your some kinda star over there right man.
