Hi everyone, Im new here, nice to be a part of this freak forum ::)

ok, I want to buy a kick ass green laser. Correction, I need it or I'll die :p
I did some research on the net these past 2 days and from what I can see many aspects come into play when choosing a good quality unit. One thing for sure...I wont spend $1000 + for one of those pro lasers pumping 300 or 350 mw. Im ready to spend 400 bucks and thats it. I'll be greatfull for any input, thanks :)

Go with Nova lasers, with your budget.

And a pair of NESHADES :p

huh?
Yeah go for a Nova x-125 or X-105. REMEMBER THE LASERSHADES!
That should blow most of your budget, the rest can be spent on black balloons etc to play with. Maybe get some optics as well?
Have fun!

And welcome to the forums!

i dont think Nova X125 is a good option ,with that money i would go for Nova series instead, you'll get more compared if you buy X125.

the nova series is $800+ though! i'd recommend getting a nova X-105, and goggles, with the 5% LPF discount (the discount code is in the Deals and Discounts section) that's $246-265 (depending on if you get the metal box, nova membership, lightyears reward points etc), leaving you a lot of money left over, unless you *really* want to pay an extra $120 for 5-20 more mW (not worth it in my opinion as X-105s usually are about 110-120mW, and X-125s are so rare that i doubt they're much more than 125-130mW). save the money you have left, you will probably end up wanting more lasers and that's about $150 to start you off next time :) and welcome to LPF!

Re: Budget = $400 - What green laser should I get

Well, I was hoping for something in the 200mw range :)
Theres this local astronomy store here in Warsaw that offers me a 200mw laser with a Samsung 1.0W diode, and no IR filter for $360. They say its a pen style laser, Im waiting for the store to send me the exact specs and photos of the unit. For now its nothing sure.
What do You guys think of The Crossfire 250mw laser ? They sell them at TechLasers. This costing $699 is obviously out of my $400 range but Im wondering if these are worth the money ? When You look at it, its quite cheap for 250mw ins't it ?

Plus...what other stores besides Nova & Optronics would you reccomend ? Ive posted a few posts in the "lasercomunity" forum. These guys are all for WickedLasers & TechLasers stores. Apparently I got banned from the forum for asking why they deliberatly put out photos of laser beams with very high ISO settings and long exposures. They seem totaly illegitimate and Im actualy glad I got banned :)

Re: Budget = $400 - What green laser should I get

that 200mW laser, without IR filter, is probably gonna be like 50mW of green and 150mW of IR. as for techlasers, to my mind they're scammers. they used to pretend they were the official CNI distributors until their lie was caught, they used to pretend that all their lasers were the exact same as other company's lasers but in fact there's a lot to suggest they're cheap counterfeits, and if you read their blue and orange lasers pages, they talk like they invented orange lasers and claim their blue lasers are the only blue lasers with a blue beam. for all that deception, i don't trust them at all.

Re: Budget = $400 - What green laser should I get

welcome to the banned from LC club lol... for around-200mW green lasers, your choices seem to be:
  • Optotronics PPL-165, $569
  • Optotronics PPL-225, $779
  • Optotronics RPL-200, $692 if jack's still giving a discount to people banned from LC, $711 with the standard LPF discount
  • Laserglow Aries-200, $889
  • Nova Lasers Nova200, $759 with LPF discount
  • Dragon Lasers Hulk 160-199mW, $630
  • Dragon Lasers Hulk 200-300mW, $900
OR - for an around 200mW red, you could buy a senkat diode, follow the instructions on LPF, and build one yourserlf for maybe $50-60 in parts. won't look as impressive as 200mW of green, but it'll burn just as well (although it'll obviously have a harder time with red objects and an easier time with green ones).

Re: Budget = $400 - What green laser should I get

you mean a spyder for $1700 that's 200mW if you're one of the very lucky few to get an in-spec one? hehe

Re: Budget = $400 - What green laser should I get

Hmm...out of the table above Optotronics RPL-200, $692 if jack's still giving a discount to people banned from LC sounds best :)
I will wait for the specs of that 200mw from my local company and I will share them with You.
So I should stay away from the Crossfire 250mw from techlasers ?
Anyone have this laser around here, or maybe someone measured its actual output ?
