Hi there!

I'm new here because i got a question about my laser pointer.

I got a green laser pointer 80mw.
Since à couple of months it doesn't work anymore.
When i push the on-off button i got no green laser anymore the only thing i see, when i put the laser against my eye, (i know it's very bad to do that) is a little red lightning dot.

Does this mean it's broken?

stop looking at that immediately! its dangerous IR light. you should see a doctor and get a checkup immediately. seriously the amount of people doing this lately is horrifying

Yes. When you say 'put against' your eye, you don't mean you've got it pressed right against your eye and you're staring into it do you? That little red light is a very powerful IR diode that is used to make the green laser light and because it's IR your blink reflex won't kick in and there's a very serious chance you've hurt your eyes and don't even realize it.

a green dpss laser (what you have) is achieved by hitting a crystal with IR light.. if the crystals go out of alignment, only IR light comes out.. very very strong IR light....

you better hope that laser is actually broken, not just out of alignment..

Many people can fix it, but it'd cost a fair bit of money and take a while.

Why should i never buy a laser again? Are you my mom? I don't think so... :)

Well I can't fix it ,You can't ,Nobody can't ...so throw it away before shit happens.

Okay, so i can smash it into pieches and put it on fire to let the anger out... :)

But where can i find some good quality portable lasers if you live in the Netherlands?

( WHAT IF ??? ) it suddenly turned on cause of a bad contact and the 80mW beam hits your eye , your eye will be fried and then you have only 1 eye left , if not the Ir is enough to cause damage just never look in a laser even if it's not working for an unknown reason
