Hello all.

I'm new to the form and lasers, I know the basics of lasers, how they work, light and waves and and and.

So my story, saw a friend with a laser thought it was very cool so when I bought mine i started to google lasers. And according to internet my laser should be able to burn things,( !!!! xD !!!!).

But I cant burn anything, so recharged the battery and got some smoke from a thin plastic bag and that's it tried to focus lens but still burning took a while before the plastic burned a hole in.

The laser information is in photos attached.

So my Question is, is this a laser that can burn things and how fast, and if not what can I do or get to make it burn everything xD.(better or stronger battery??)
O is this some fake ?

It is the usual 30-50mW green chinese laser, They are highly unlikely to burn anything at all in the first place so your purchase is not exactly accurate to your requirements. A 405nm 100mW focusable pen would have been a better option for a decent seller.

Before you worry about anything else you need a pair of googles red or orange and if your thinking of 808nm laser that's even worse because you cant even see the beam i would read the stickies on the forum and start of slow don't Go jumping straight into high power stuff one flash of a reflected surface into your eye and without googles you will get instant eye damage play around with the low power ones for a while then move up in power when your more confident

808nm is not really a good thing to purchase, trust me if you builtan 808nm as a first laser and show it to the forum, You'll get nothing but negative reputations from everyone.

Go with Blaser's advice and get safety goggles, if the laser can burn matches they can burn the eyes, you cannot unburn neither the match nor the eyes..

The damage is irreparable, so i think you need to learn some basic laser safety!

The lasers I added in the add was not what i wanted to buy(did not even see the nm sorry), just tipped lasers in ebay to see what there are, I only want a laser that i can burn paper or matches with.
And safety, already have 2 orange glasses from working with laser cutters at workshop.
If i would buy +-400nm is tops(already to high for a beginning I agree xD).

So thank you for the help will post before I by again.

I would recommend buying from a trusted member here on the forums. For your next buy. Gives great customer service and cheap.
