I opted to buy a high powered laser after my 5mw broke. I ordered the 200 mw as i knew the real output would not be close to that. I wanna use the laser just for fun and not burning etc eg shining it outdoors at night, am i in danger of hurting my eyes without goggles even if i am extremely careful and dont shine it near my self or anyone else?

Any help is appreciated

Dragon Lasers have very good glasses for a pretty good price :) I think you would need the ones for 532nm greenies. But I don't own any of those, so wait till a professional will help you ;) Hope it helped somehow.

It's good to be concerned about your safety, but be concerned also for the other people's safety. Don't aim at people, animals or inside houses. Don't lase airplanes etc. Outdoors lasing can be done without danger for anyone, if you use the lasers with responsibility. Anyway you should buy some glasses 'cause you WILL lase indoors too, and a accidental reflection on a mirror could harm your eyes or anyone's. Don't even switch it on when childs are present. Those modules output more than 100mw, That's dangerous enough. Be responsible, that's the 1st rule for a serious laserist. The second rule is to apply ALWAYS the 1st one.
