Dear laserists, can anyone tell me what's the average beam width of an average greenie?
My 50mW has a 1mm wide beam and when it burns through a floppy disk, the holes are also very small.
As i have nothing to compare it to, i don't know if that's normal.
I mean, a cheap red pointer has a 3-4mm wide beam, while the lens is of the same size. It's kinda weird...

for most dpss lasers, including greens, is about 1 mm. reds have diameters of 2-6 mm. the reason most reds have larger beam diameters is because its just a red diode. dpss lasers have crystelsa and lenses in them which gives them better beam characterists.
hope this helps

i know others can help out here. ;)
