battery life?

I've only had my 20mw laser pen for about 4 days now and i was just wondering how long should the 2 AAA batteries last. would it be better to stock up on AAAs or buy rechargeable batteries instead

Depending on how frequently you think you're gonna use it.Recheargable batteries are recommended for a lot of use.

Well get the kind that the laser uses.There are no lithium ion AAAs.There are the 10440 cells that are AAA size but they're 3.7V so obviusly they can't replace AAAs.

ok, i found somewhere someone posted a was way to set it up with Lithiums, the said to use e2 1.5v Lithium and then sumthin about 1.2v NIMH batts 1000mAh. i didnt really get what they were saying though

Basically what I mean by that is that alkalines are NOT a good choice for these.. even though the laser is only putting out "20mw", the driver is probably pulling a good deal of current. Cheap bateries, even name beands like Duracell or Energizer alkalines, will die FAST.

Energizer e2 lithiums(non-rechargeable) will last a decent amount of time, but are expensive. Your best choice is the NIMH rechargeables at 1.2v. Even the off-brands that claim 1000 mAh capacity do a good job, and are cheaper then the name brands. They last almost as long on a charge as the e2's, and you just charge them back up when they die(ouput from the laser lowers)....saves a TON of money in the long run.

Whatever you do, do NOT put the li-ion rechargeables in there(10440's). They will either be 3.0v or 3.7v each and will KILL the driver and pump diode.
