Re: awesome lab quality 50mw modules for 65.00+5.0
I have one of these (and another on back-order). It is running a slam solid 70mW in my lab. The beam quality is amazing. I ran it through a dichroic to split out any IR, and only got a 4 mW drop. I would expect that just from interface losses. Also our poor old power meter has taken a beating over the years.
I can throw a clamp-on dc amp meter on it tomorrow and check the current draw.
Re: awesome lab quality 50mw modules for 65.00+5.0
aixiz told me it would take 2-3 days to arrive. They told me that my order went out on wednesday, the 16th, so it will be here tomorrow(18th) or the next day(19th)(writing this at 3:25am.. lol.. reading up about it..)
Re: awesome lab quality 50mw modules for 65.00+5.0
Hey disma, before you send the modehopping one back to them for replacement could you take a picture of the spot? I'd like to see which mode it's running at. Mine jumped to tem01 the other day but I had had it running for 2-3 hours it switched modes.
Re: awesome lab quality 50mw modules for 65.00+5.0
I'm having problems with mine. It's outputting much less than it was when it arrived and it was turning on/off at about 4hz a while ago as well. I messaged aixiz about this and im waiting for a response.
The pot was maxed when it arrived and the driverboard doesn't regulate smoothly either. without touching, it seems to like to adjust itself. Half turn of the pot is brighter than a full turn..
:-( disappointed.. waiting for reply..
but anyway, i got my dx 200mw and its sick as anything.. lol..
Re: awesome lab quality 50mw modules for 65.00+5.0
The driverboard seems to have gone on the fritz. It wont output enough to run the laser correctly anymore. I've left it sit while I was at work. I'm back now and I'll be testing again soon.
Re: awesome lab quality 50mw modules for 65.00+5.0
if its just a driver problem, I think id build an lm317 driver for it, and then you can run it from baterys also. 500ma should be about a 2.5 ohm resistor.
Re: awesome lab quality 50mw modules for 65.00+5.0
Personally I am a bit ticked off at Aixiz atm. Here is my e-mail and a direct straight to the point answer that I received:
"Hello,
Just recieved my labby laser module today, couldn't be more pleased, excellent beam.
Just a quick question though, does it have an IR filter installed?
Thanks

Now I wasn't expecting much for the money, and was very pleasantly surprised at the quality after I received it. What pisses me off, is that a simple question which wouldn't have affected my opinion of the product was clearly answered in a non-truthful manner...(a lie)...Now I am not going to draw any conclusions about the company...however I am not happy with this clear deceit...I have not tested my personal laser for IR, however it is safe to assume that we have the same one...thanks for the IR tests guys.
Re: awesome lab quality 50mw modules for 65.00+5.0
you took it apart?! :-? did you get it back together? If its still apart, take some pictures please... Id like to see what the diode looks like. Also, I will test the power supply when I get my last laser in. Ill let you all know what the current is on it when I test it. I requested a tracking number for the last laser thursday night, and I still havnt heard anything back from aixiz yet. I fugure they are off on the weekends we probably wont hear anything until mon or tue. I will take a pic of the beam mode hopping if it does it any more, I couldnt get it to mode hop yesterday! lol, thats fine with me if it continues to work, it must have been an effect of temperature or something.
