A recent idea. I have bought some AA to C cell adaptors on e-bay and used e2 Lithiums in my Aries. It does work and gives a slight bump in power with a little better stability than alkalines. The tradeoff is operation time - the AA cells last about 8 minutes.

Hey Stevetexas, aren't the Aries lasers supposed to always hold output at or exceeding their rating? Those graphs seem to show quite a few dips below 225mW even before your batteries start dying. Perhaps you can get LG to replace it with a stronger one?

How do you guys make those power graphs, what equipment do you need?

Both Steve Texas and I have the LPM-1 that has a data output feature that exports it as a CSV (Comma seperated Values) file - it exports direct to Excel, and then you copy the graph, and paste it into paint to make a jpg out of it. I will be selling mine soon - they go for $199.00 pretty much bare-bones, and I have the ND filter, the external data cable, and the backlight for the display on mine. Take a peek at ebay, serach for laser power meter and it will pop up. They are made by Andover Holography.

That was before I had my tripod setup (and before I had my glass ND-8 filter), so I was moving quite a bit.  That artifact at the beginning was due to my instability trying to get everything "stable".   :-[

I'm pretty pleased with my Aries and I figure an AVERAGE power rating 20mW higher than they sold it to me for is pretty darn good.  It has peaked as high as 282mW!!! It won't be going back any time soon  - I hope...

i cant wait till i can do this sort of stuff. the power variations do interest me though. I'm wondering whether it would be inconsistency in cells or maybe heat causing changes in various locations. fascinating stuff, it give me stuff to think about for the day :D i love that my exams are over, i have very little to do and i can do stuff ive been meaning to do for some time :)
