Just wanted to share my experiance with beam of light technologies. In 2000 my girlfriend purchased a 5mw green from z-bolt.com. It was for our first aniversary, with a price tag of 350. US. It was a 5mw factory tweeked pointer which til this day still pushes 7mw. Ive had this laser for 8 years and have put many, many hours on it. The beam quality is still as razor sharp as the day it was delivered. Now they dont really have anything over 75mW, but the quality of lasers seem to be one of the better out there. Ill add some pics of my weathered greenie, and ask that anybody has a laser which has stood the test of time, post it and its story here :)

My very first green was a Z-bolt <5mw, I installed it on my air rifle about 3 years ago, it still works as well as the day I got it. The only downside was the cost, I can't remember how much it was but it was a considered purchase.

My second green was also a Z-bolt....which, through my own stupidity, I scratched the lens on..... that one is now attached to my sons air rifle.... with the line caused by the scratch horizontal ::) .
I would say that they are very nice lasers if a little pricey.

Even though the price was high, it was the cheapest in price I could find at the time. But it payed off in fun! Its funny, I was willing to spend the money back in the day, now id rather build my own. If it wasnt for my first, I may have never taken the interest in them. My first red was 5mw from Efstonscience in Toronto, a retailer for Edmound Scientific. I paid 149. for it, but was the only person with one (that i knew) at the time. I drove my neighbours crazy with the mystical red dot that would appear on their curtain for a brief moment every couple of months [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif]

Then I made my first He/Ne portable. It fit in a duffle bag, and was powered by 4, 12v wetcells. The thing was a monster and had ridiculous range, with some serious kick-ass divergence. Downside to that one was the weight, it was in the area of 20+ lbs. :-?

Damn, 149 for a red.....that was way back in the day I guess, my first red was about $20 and I was still the only guy with one for a good several months.
What power was the HeNe?

A used 10mW, that was in 1995-96 when I was a youngin. Now im 31, but the good thing about that is, A- all the toys, B- the wisdom you pick up on the way, and C- well there is no C, you just keep getting older ;D

I bought a z-bolt 5mW tuned green early last year and I love it. One of the best parts about it is that the whole thing comes apart real easily. I've thought about copying the case design for my own builds. $100 very well spent!

I have one I bought 4 years ago for $179. I don't remember the exact mW rating although I do know it is at least 7.5 but less than 15. It came with one of these.

I got a Galileo type z-bolt laser through Amazon for ~$55. Great quality and easy to pot mod. I recently bought their green scuba laser. Both are great!

When I got mine, they had a mod option for like 30$ more. Im not sure where the power was at when I got it, but it puts out just above 7mW. And this is a few years later with heavy use for the first 3yrs :)

I bought a >90mW green module from Z-Bolt several months ago. No issues with the laser so far. I have talked to their people regarding ordering another-just waliting for a new shipment. Z-Bolt sounds and looks like they have their act together.
On a related note, I just purchased a 100 mW greenie from Sunclan Lasers and am waiting for that unit to arrive.

I had a zbolt Leadlight for six years that kicked out 20mw (turned out to be a pot modded 105). It cost me I think $275. It worked PERFECT the entire time I had it, and I have no doubt that it would still be going strong had I not decided to hack it apart to experiment on it because Leadlights can be had for dirt cheap nowadays.

It is by far the most time tested laser I've ever owned. Worth every penny, and the only regret I have about it is killing it.

I remember my first laser, a Calpac Lasers keychain red that I ordered out of a random mail order catalog for $40 in 96. I had that thing for about two years before... actually, I don't remember what happened to it. Pointers were so much fun back in the day before they became a fad LOL

It's actually worth noting that I've had a Calpac keychain red on my keychain since 2005, and it still gets well under 1mrad and is as bright as it was the day I bought it. Fantastic little laser.
