I hope I'm not the first to do this...
so I was getting bored as usual and started messing with my 5mw greenie... the cr2 "new wish" ones dx sells. I ended up pulling the front lens off the unit out of curiosity just to see what I could see.
the thing is in two parts it seems, the back third of the whole thing appears to be connected to the inner workings of it. being I only have one vice grip I couldn't take it apart more...
the lens was just a brass piece with one piece of glass or something in it
the back side of it:
the front is kinda messy and scratched up
I've been contemplating the fate of my dilda because I can't afford goggles for it... its just been sitting for now. for some strange reason I decided to pull the lens off of it for comparison to the greenie's
hmm... that looks quite the same....
I wonder....
where did it go?
it ate it whole!!!!
(it had to go in that far to focus... but it appears to do so!)
(there is hard glue on it you might have to scrape out of the threads if you want to attempt this...)
trying to figure where to go from here with this...
the scatter of green around it is annoying. i think it is because the inside of the "bell" it goes in is shiny, and the unit being brass it kinda reflects everywhere.
inside of heat sink for reference to how shiny it is:
you can see the brass spacer in there.
I think I need a black filler thing with a hole in it for the beam to go through to fix the scatter problem...
I'm also starting to see what people mean by TEM00 01, ect. when I turn it on un focused I can see one blob turn into two, almost organically.... then back into one (all upon startup, within a half second)
anyone else find this interesting that the lens fits?
