http :// warnlasers . com / products / green_laser / swot_series_gx

On the right on the drop down menu you can select 600mW for #USD2,500

Is this for real????? does anyone have one of these? That thing seems ethal when you think what you can burn at 300mW, then you double that power..... wow

I searched on here but didn't see anything about this 600mW laser on here. Sorry if it's already in forum.

That laser is total crap :) Warnlaser is a scam.

No one has got that laser here, because we would be wasting our money. It isn't outputting 600mW. Maybe it'll briefly peak at near 600mW, but at best it would average at 400mW, and even then only for a few minutes. Those models just don't have the heatsinking for that kind of power.

If you want the best it's a Herc 500 from LaserGlow, some of those average at over 600mW. The Herc 500 is the undisputed most powerful handheld greenie in the world, some of them peak at over 700mW :)

Herc 500 is something like $6000 if I remember correctly. It's a special order :)

You know why it's expensive? It's because LaserGlow is one of the best companies out there, and what you buy is pure quality. The Herc is the best quality portable laser around. Only a few people have them because it's of a higher quality than what most hobbyists need (or can afford).

If you have a scientific research laboratory that requires a portable laser module, get a Herc :) If you're a hobbyists, some of the cheaper portable lasers like the RPL or Hulk would be a better option :)

yeah i'm just a hobbyist. i'm just looking for a green laser that has a strong, visible beam... i think that $6000 is something i woudlnt'spend unless.... god i dont even know.... :) but i imagine that herc 500 can burn/melt/cut through just about anything

If there's someone we know for sure doesn't have a 600mW laser, its warnlaser. They have an interesting strategy - scam like all the others, but charge prices as if you weren't scamming. Makes it easier for them to seem legit, meanwhile they reap in a lot more BS profit.

so i guess the conclusion is that a 600mW will never be found at warnlaser and if in fact you can get 600mW that are not a scam, a portable-sized one is non-existant or am i wrong in that?

baires0314, you mentioned that "herc 500 can burn/melt/cut through just about anything". I hope by that you meant burn through electrical tape, black plastics, etc. If you were referring to metals, not a chance. 500mW for a portable greenie is top of the line as far as power goes, but its still just 0.5Watts. When we talk about industrial aluminum cutters, we're talking about lasers that need to be a KILOwatt at minimum. Just wanna make sure you understand that these are damn bright, damn powerful lasers - but they aren't lightsabers.

With that in mind, if you're looking to buy a pretty powerful laser at a very good price, you may want to get in touch with me ;). I have some Prometheus green lasers in stock in the 300-500mW range

A portable 600 mW is very unlikely to be available. Perhaps the well known brands like hercules will have a unit that produces 600 mW at some times, but its going to be very expensive. The problem is that crystals with very good efficiency are rare, and required to make a portable at this power level.

I reckon you can get a 2 watt or more labstyle green laser for the money - they have active cooling and plenty of heatsinking to work with more powerful pump diodes and can tune their temperature for optimal performance.

I have a 400mW green, that peaks at 600mW but spends most of the time around 530mW....

Unfortunatelly it then drops to 60 after only 4 minutes.. :'(

Umm.. Yeah, sure... ::)

Well, actually it's a BIY..

If it was a DIY, then it wouldn't be mode hopping, but the efficiency would only be 16%...
