Is this an okay laser? Does It Have an IR Filter?

It won't have an IR filter... it will likely be over 5mW.

These pen lasers are a dime a dozen... they are cheap and not meant to last.

Even if I use it not often? How much time would you approximate for it to last?

I've had some that lasted a while, some that came in worked for less than a minute. On average I'd say you will probably get about two hours of useful time out of it.

For how long you held button pressed? I think you cannot hold down button for more than over 10 seconds, you must do breaks in between. I read this in instructions of some laser pointers I saw.

Suppose this is cheap laser pointer weakness. Do you mean it will not happen with laser pointers over $70 purchased on Wicked Lasers or other top laser pointers sites?

You can buy these on eBay for $5. If it dies throw it away and buy another. Or spend $20 and buy 4. Four will last you a while.

What trusted eBay seller would you recommend me? Maybe particluar 5mW laser pointer even?

You're looking at it all wrong. You're asking all these quality questions for a $5 pointer. Good lasers are EXPENSIVE, and worth the questions you are asking. I spend more than $5 on a pack of cigarettes. Just buy one, the cheapest you can find, and enjoy it for what its worth. If it lasts a week you got your monies worth. If it breaks just buy another.

If you get into lasers, and want to step up to a decent laser, then post a bunch of questions. Otherwise you're wasting your time, and ours trying to find the best $5 laser you can find. Quality, and cheap, never go hand and hand. Especially with lasers.

Order a laserglow 5mW green. They are excellent... will last forever if treated gently. IIRC they are $40.

Until now I had a notion that cheap lasers, be it $5 or $15 vary in quality as I read reviews where for some cheap laser were positive and another more expensive were less positive than of former, but it seems I get what I pay for.

Here I read some replies where people also suggested buying lasers from China dealers. Don't remember the price, but I thought if you buy from China, you can also buy from sites like DX and likes since all this stuff is made in China. Maybe they suggested China dealers but yet that sell quality lasers?

Not all Chinese products are junk. They do it get it right sometimes. But you have to pay for it.

And yes, sometimes you get a faulty product, even after paying good money. But thats where their customer service comes in. Thats why you have to select a company carefully when paying good money. Good money being well over $100. Some hand held lasers go into the thousands. The laser hobby is very expensive. You really cant, and should not expect much for under $100. Thats why we build them. We use better parts, and make better lasers for half money. The only lasers we cant do cheaply are the green lasers. Its extremely hard to produce green lasers, so the average laser enthusiast buys them like everyone else. The reason why they are cheap from China is they pay their employes pennies an hour, and use child labor. The high quality green lasers are produced by professionals, and the price reflects it. So if you want a quality high power green laser expect to pay well over $1000.

I only want no more than 5mW green laser pointer of normal quality and preferrably shorter than 5-inch in length.
