5mw green laser diodes/modules for cheap?

Hey there,


I was wondering what's the lowest price you can get for green lasers?

I need to get at least 6 lasers for an installation and the lowest price point for green lasers seems to be $20. Seeing that I don't know a thing about lasers, $120 is a bit too big of an investment. The thing is I need the laser beam to be visible, and according to my (rather humble) research, I need at least 5mw/532nm lasers.

Is there a green laser diode or module (it seems there aren't any green laser diodes commercially available yet, is that correct?) that sells for 10 bucks or less? I don't need a portable laser pen, as the laser will be built into an installation, so just the diode would be fine.

alternatively, is there a cheaper method to get a visible beam? I know red laser beams are visible in fog, but a fog machine seems a bit unrealistic.

You can always get some cheap 5mW pens on eBay for less than $10. Then just pull the modules out of them.

i've found some extremely cheap 100mw modules on ebay. starting price is $0.01 ... is that for real? i find it hard to believe.

I need it asap, preferably yesterday lol the thing is I have a deadline next thursday, and even with ems express it takes dx 7-14 days to deliver.
the seller has a top-seller rating, also his other items seem legit. Then again, I never used ebay before, so I dont really know what to look out for.


Does anyone know a physical store around san francisco that sells cheap lasers? I dont even know where to start looking lol.

RadioShack sells green lasers IIRC.
