Hi. This is my first post here on Laserpointerforums. I'll kick off my new registration with some videos I've recently recorded with my new Envee 100-120mw(CNI PGLIIIa) by Lucent optics.

The videos are recorded on a digital camera which has its IR filter removed and a piece of IR pass 720nm filter placed in front which allows only 720nm and higher to be viewed by the sensor of the camera. During the burning of the tape and matches, the green is present but is just unable to be seen due to the filters being used. The light you occasionally see is only around 1-2mw of infrared which is able to pass through the built in filter inside the laser.

The first video is the laser cutting tape in full color.
The second video is the laser cutting tape in IR only with and without a lens.
The third video is the laser smoking some tape and igniting a match with a lens in IR.

Thanks for viewing! Hope you like it.

*** It says I have to have 10 posts to post links of video so I'll be back with the links to the clips.

You can search them on youtube in the time being under my name "Napalmfire"

Re: 532nm laser burning viewed in full infrared vi

Hey there

I also have the enVee 100 - 120mW.  It is a great laser to carry with you because of the safety shutter, which protects the lens from dirt and dust when it is in your pocket - not to mention the burning capabilities.  I see the prices have come down a bit since I purchased mine.  Maybe if it goes below $200 I will purchase another one.

Yea I paid $225 for mine and it came with an otterbox too which is awesome for bringing along the safety keys, some matches, and a spare set of batteries.

I'd just like to know what kind of mw its putting out. I had an old WL freak phoenix which output 110mw and this thing burns loads better than that ever could dream of.

I re-made the "headphone jack" style plug by taking a small nail, hacksawing it off at the proper length of the jack style plug and I shoved it in there. It is much less protruding and you can just keep it in there all the time if you don't really need the extra security function.

Awesome laser for the money.

Make sure you use the Energizer Lithium E2 batteries to get the most out of your laser.  I wish I could find a rechargeable that is as powerful as the E2s.  Maybe there is someone out there that knows of some.

Actually, I used to use AAA Lithium's in my phoenix but I haven't even thought of using them in my Envee. All I've used so far has been regular alkaline batteries and 2500mAh NiMH rechargables.

Do you know where one could get AA Lith's for a good price? Bestbuy wants $14 for two by me.. jeez!

I get mine at Walmart - 4pack for $8 - $9. You might try to search online for a better deal. In this case Best Buy is not the better buy.

those videos are cool, you cut that tape pretty quick, although it doesn't look like it was real electrical tape was it?

Very cool videos! You should get some pictures of the laser pointing straight into the camera like you did for a split second in one of the videos. It was very cool how you could just see a tiny green glow!! I'm sure if you have a good macro mode or lens you could use, you could get a picture of the crystals lasing. pretty neat! Oh yeah, if you want to know the output of your lasers, there are many members here (myself included) who have power meters who would be happy to test them for you.

Re: 532nm laser burning viewed in full infrared vi

Thanks for the comments.

The camera videotaping the videos has no macro mode, and my next camera is a Canon 40D which I'm not about to shoot a laser into.. lol.. I would be able to shoot the crystals lasing, but I don't want to risk my camera.

The electrical tape was the real thing. It cuts it extremely easy which is why I feel this is more overpowered than my 110mw phoenix.
