Hey all,
So today I built my first green build with a lot of help from Adrian (bobhaha). Its a 532nm 200mw o-like module in a first run Kryton.

Picture of the almost final product. The tail cap is from a Kryton groove host. The tail cap from this host didn't come with the switch so I'm using this as a temporary solution till I get the tail cap done

Enlarged the inside to the size of the module

Module + heatsink in the host. Very snug fit

Got the tail cap fixed and polished

Started Polishing the Front too

Final things to be done:
  • The Kryton will be polished up to a mirror finish ~ Almost done
  • Some 16340/cr123 3.7v batteries

LPM test
Didn't grab a pic of the test but Adrian can vouch for me on this one.
It did 220mw @ 4v on a bench power supply. I'll post up a picture when I get a chance next time I LPM this laser

Haha I can see how the title is slightly misleading. I changed it so hopefully its slightly less misleading

Thanks!

More pics soon and LPM vid. It peaked at ~230mw!

^Most simple post of the year? :D

Im gonna pick up a set of z-2300's to go along with my z-523's... Thats what I call an earthquake :D

BTW, I noticed your mousepad, do you play any PC games? I have a Razer Goliathus and a Logitech G9x mouse :)

Oh yeh, your back yard looks somewhat similar to mine  :p Well, not really, just the shed and clothesline, LOL

Wow you can still get the z2300's? Logitech aren't making them now. My mousepad is a steelseries starcraft 2 WOL one of terran.

My back yard is generic haha I live near Parra if that means anything =D

My local PC store just ran out of z-2300's :(

I guess I will fork out the extra cash and go for the z-5500 :eg:

I like this :)
The krytons polish up nicely!

Adrian has a pic of my other Kryton groove that he already polished up for me and it looks amazing in person. I just need to wait till me and him are free so I can use his buffing machine. Also need to remember to take the module out of the host as it heats up a lot from the polishing O_O

So having played with this for a while i noticed a few things. firstly when I chuck a normal lens on it to expand it, I notice that it mode hops a lot between tem0 and tem30. Also I have noticed this

Why are the reflections so speckly?

maybe your module mode hops often but the lens is what makes it noticable.

Also, the speckles in the reflection are probably from the surface your shining it at (I presume your roof)

Btw are you sure it hops up to tem30? That would be over 100 dots

IIRC tem01 is 2 dots, tem02 is 4 dots and so-on

Ahhh Ic, I was going by this img on wiki
File:Hermite-gaussian.png - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

And yes its my roof, my other lasers to it too haha. Also I think it might be mode hopping because of low voltage batteries. Getting some new ones so hopefully it will fix them.

Also added some new shiny pics =D
