I don't have a lathe so this is how I make round stuff on a mill. I use the dividing attachment and rotate it by hand while gradually letting the mill eat deeper into the material.

This made my day

Nice work & host. I see it's another one of these "police" torch variants (where did you get it?)

Probably got it from a flea market or similar place. I just asked dad if he had any broken flashlights lying around that I could tear apart and use as a host :) It's so cheap it only used a single 5mm LED probably cost under $2 or so but the host machining and anodizing looked OK

Bump!

Trying a different look.... The paint on the heatsink started rubbing off and bare aluminum started showing up again which is ugly so I decided to try another route....

Since any form of repainting or anodizing will rub or scratch off at the sharp edges, why not fully remove it instead? I can also round off the sharp corners so it won't shred my pocket :p

Mounted the heatsink to a bolt and attached it to the drill. While spinning, I sanded the fin edges to get that bare aluminum.

This is what it looks like now. Love it or hate it, it's here to stay :p

I don't want to mess with chemicals (also don't have them at hand) so electroplating and DIY anodizing is out. Getting it done by a shop is an option but most probably won't be cheap so this is the next best thing :)
