Ha ha, good point. Nothing like flinging lead in darkness. :D I'm no gun expert either, but there is a big market of accessories for shooting in low light conditions...definitely aimed at military/police and "self defense" scenarios over hunting/target shooting though. I think "mesopic" would be a better word choice than scotopic here though...and in that case good ol' 532nm would probably be the best. When I shoot it's typically with iron sights though...(in daylight mind you)

If you place a curve in the middle of scotopic and photopic then you get a peak of 528/529nm iirc! So yes, 532 would be very close indeed.

Awesome! Just to clarify, will your source be getting more of BOTH the 505nm and 480nm diodes or was that just the 505nm diodes?

If this sorts out I wonder if a group buy would make sense. Although I'd guess DTR is already on top of this.

I should have the 505nm diode here in a couple of days, so I'll be able to take spectrum readings of it at different current levels.

Lost. I had it in my pocket one day I was packing up from college, then when I was home it wasn't. I either lost it in the luggage, or it fell out in one of the parking lots. This was 3 years ago. I've searched through everything I had to no avail: not in any old school boxes, not in the car buried anywhere... it has to either be at a dump somewhere or in someone's pocket as a 'cool color' laser.

Tis a real shame...

Only the 505's. 480nm is unknown according to the email I got.

Fedex says I should have the package in my hands Friday. Holy crap.

Thanks, Rich. I got it and the tracking on the USPS site and have updates coming in as they apply. I should know it is going to be delivered before it actually is. :)

That's a shame. I was hoping that at the specified current the 480nm diodes would be at least 480nm. I will carefully push the 505nm diode I have coming to see exactly what the wavelength will do as the current is increased. I should have the one that is coming to me in a couple of days.

Don't push the 505nm they will just approach 510 or 15.
Do you have any 480's on the way?
