20mW green laser pointer dies

Hey, i just registered to ask you guys for helping me out.
So, i have a problem. I bought a 20mW green laser pointer from Laserpennen.com, Uw laserpen specialist! (it's from the Netherland, i live in Belgium)

So, yesterday morning, i opened it i put batteries in etc. it worked fine.
But when it's getting evening. The laser is SOO weak that i didn't saw the beam anymore. So i putted it in the freezer and then it was SOO powerfull but after
5sec it was weak again. I putted in new batteries and such, but nothing works.
Hope you guys can help me out.

Why would you want to put your laser in a freezer?

Perhaps it's just a defective unit. Try a brand new set of batteries (Duracell or other knwon power brands, not some cheap Zinc-Carbon batteries) and if it still does not work, you should contact the seller and ask for replacement or refund.

Ofcourse it does, every laser (or electronics device for that matter) heats up during operation.

That is no reason to put it in a freezer. Laser is invented and designed to operate on normal temperatures, if you were required to put it below zero in order to cool it off, people would make that note in instructions of use.

It's possible that first time batteries were merely empty, and after you froze it, you completely destroyed it so that no batteries at all work anymore, since laser is dead.
I don't know why I didn't think of this sooner.

You can't ask for refund or replacement. You have put your laser in a freezer. You have most likely destroyed it on your own.

Common sense, man. Use it!

I don't think ive done something wrong, because it does still the same as before i putted it in the freezer

In the opening post you have declared that after putting it in a freezer it worked for 5 seconds and then never again.

Still, you've put a laser in the damned freezer, man.

Also, 20mW green laser does not exactly produce a lot of heat, not enough for person to deem it necessary to put it in a freezer.

Green lasers are constructed to work in normal room temperature. Yours too.

If it does not, contact the seller.

Every single detail you have described about the laser, points to empty batteries. You say they are not. I don't have any other ideas.

Yeah. So, what exactly are you asking me here? Is your laser working or not?

If it's true to specifications, which is 20mW, it shouldn't be too bright and it most definetly will not burn anything.

What do you mean by weak? You're giving me too little information to work with here.

Well, in the beginning it was a very bright dot and i saw the beam in dark places
but after some hours i had a very small dot and no beam in dark places
then i putted it in the freezer and it was a very bright dot again but after 5 secs.. weak
so, it got brighter when putting it in the freezer for 2 mins
but i want it bright all the time

So it sounds EXACTLY like empty batteries. Try with brand new alkaline-chemistry batteries and see if it works. No freezing the laser this time, or the batteries.

Batteries who have been in cold places will lose their charge over time. Or in case of putting them in a freezer, they will be empty real fast.

Don't bother with the reputation, just reply back with results if your laser works or not.

Still don't get why you put it in the freezer... When my tools are cold I don't put them in the microwave to heat them up.

20mW DPSS produces around 1W of heat. if it's older unit based not on KTP then cooling them down indeed increases efficiency of frequency doubling
