200mW Transformable focusable green laser?

I wonder if the use of the word "focusable" here means that you can focus in AND out. I.e. create a pinpoint for close range burning or focus out to create a cone of light. Any guesses? I've emailed Susie, but I think China is on some week long holiday.

yea thats what it means you can make iot 6" or 1/16 " or less focusable

If you had a steady hand, could you effectively use the focus to obtain better divergence than a fixed focus laser?

Well, seriously, you can in theory get a better divergence from a focusable one, but you are talking of 0.1 mRad maybe? nothing you will ever note xD

I've seen a few threads that mention this laser but have yet to hear anyone say they bought it.

200mW Transformable focusable green laser£>5~200mw green laser pointer£>Laser&lighting products£>www.0-like.com

So whats the verdict guys does someone own this one?
Have you tested it to see if its truly 200mw?

I know O-like is trusted around here but that price seems a little 2 good so I'd like to hear from someone thats tested it at home.

Thanks in advance

Hi. I bought the >200mW transformable and focusable green laser. It was about $150 + shipping. My impression is that the laser is well build. But I am not stunned by its power. I cannot see the beam during daylight.

I must honestly say that I had higher hopes for this one. Compared to a pot-modded >10mW laser from ledshoppe, it is not worth it. (oh, the pot modded ledshoppe lasergadhetshow thiny cost $12 + free shipping).

I bought the 80mW - 100mW laser (SAME STYLE) from RAYFOSS & it metered 5-10mW's higher on either battery set-up, & no mode-hopping either.............rob

@rob: can you see the beam in daylight with your ? Also -- that focusable "feature" makes really no sense to use. All I can do with it, is to make it more out-of-focus. If I screw the focus all the way in, i get a nice dot. But by turning it outwards, the dot gets more and more out of focus...and I can't really seem to undertand what the heck we need that for :-)

@espskog: I can't see the beam outside in bright sunlight, but at dawn, dusk, or midday INSIDE, I can see the beam IF it's focused properly. I've found that a lot of these so-called "FOCUSABLE" lasers, don't focus down to a pin-point for burning, SOME do, but the majority don't. They only focus enough so that the beam is visible in low light conditions.......................rob PS, don't forget that mine is only 80 - 100mW's & NOT 200mW's.

Yeah, I am little disappointed that mine cannot focus both negative and positive. If I screw the focus all the way IN, it will bring the point to a tight spot. But I would have liked th eoption to focus beyond that, in order to be able to decde at which distance I want the most optimal focalpoint. I wonder if I can modify this if I open it up somehow., Aaaanyway, I am happy eough about it for time being :-) I was outside in INSANE fog here the other day and the visual visibility was no more than 20 feet, so when I lit up the laser, it was like being Luke Skywalker :-)

My next laser will not be a pre-build unit. I am going to buy separate casing and put it togteher by myself in order to have the possibility to choose all the parts I want, and aswell as to being able to upgrade its power with other circuits when I want.

Not sure where to go from here, but I think google will be my friend :-)

Thanks for saving me another $50-60. I just got off the yahoo chat with Susie and asked her if they tweak the beams for different needs (i.e. burning or visual beam) or are each of the non-focusable models shipped out with the same beam spread. She didn't really answer the question but linked the 200mW focusable version for $159 +$6 shipping.

Of course having been sucked in by the green tractor beam by joining this site, I instantly said to myself, I want that! But, from the posts I'm reading, it looks like the extra 50mW (if it even gets that) isn't worth the added expense.

I'm either buying the 100mW or the 150mW from o-like and just wanted to know if my copy could be tuned for visual beam efficiency as I'll have more fun with that where I live then burning stuff. She didn't answer my question though so I'll just cross my fingers and hope it's what I get.

Here is an update to that -- I recharged the batt today to it max and that sure made a difference. The dot got so bright that I was unable to look at it when pointing to a white-ish wall. BUT: I went outside now in the dark and was not crazy-amazed of the power. I tested the burning today at work, and it burned thru black platic in notime. it also fried black plastic and smoke appeared in 1-2 sec :) still -- i would recommd the >10mW laser gadget lasershow red box thing from ledshoppe. open it, mod it with a screwdriver an u have very nice bright beam. it does burn black plasticbag aswell,... and just $12 rules :)

If I would recommend, you buy http://ledshoppe.com/Product/ledp/LP3033.htm and remove the cover. Take out the little plastic 10x10mm plastic grid in the front so you get one beam and not a grid. Then turn the pot aaaaall the way until the diode is superbright :) Then put brand new AAA batts in place (not the ones which comes with it) and you should get a nice laser. The inside of this unit is exctly the same as the 50mW ledshoppe green laser pointer :-) hehe...

And then I would save up for a nice 500mW instead :)

I wish someone could line up ALL the possible versions of good green lasers so we can look at the beams in parallell. The whole lineup from 5mW to 500mW :)

It is difficult to know if a 500mW will be killler bright. I mean, If I have a 50mW from before, I would expect 500mW to be totally awesome and worth the money :) hehe...

Ditto! I had a 50, sold the 50. Gettin' a 50, may sell it when it gets here. All to step up to a 150mW (long story). But, I just want the brightest pointer I can get for around $100. I want it just for pointing" not for burning and I'd love to see a side by side comparision from 5 to 500.

Let me give you a experience. The Laser i bought from LedShoppe.com (http://ledshoppe.com/Product/ledp/LP3033.htm) is very good. Just modify as described above, and you will easily see your dot from at least 2500-3000 meters away in the night. I was on a hill with this laser at night, and pointed to the curch in the town which was 2500 meters away. The church was already lit up as they normally are, and i could still see the green dot on the church wall. Very cool. :)

Pointing to the sky during night, you will see the beam with no problems. And for the $12, you get pretty much for the money.

Another thing, I got a 50mW from Ledshoppe which was defective. They have resent a new laser to me at no extra charge. Now that is great customer service. Never had any problems with Ledshoppe before, and I highly recommend their sevices.
(and no, I do not have anything to do with their shop -- I am just a very satisfied customer) :-)

I guess that for pointing only, a 50mW will be rather adequate. And they are cheap aswell.

UPDATE for my oLike 200mW focusable + transformable $150 green laser:

It burns really well. I put it to my skin, and after 1 sec I felt it sting and I got a small red dotted burnmark. That was yesterday, and today the burnmark is still very visible. Maybe I can use this to remove peoples tattoos..heheheheheheheheh...
