Hey guys. Recently I ordered the green 200mW module from DealExtreme, located here.

It worked fine when I got it, but both leads broke off, so I bought some wire from RadioShack and soldered them back on. I connected it to power but it still did not work. I realized that 2 connections on the back had fallen off, so I resoldered those. It still did not work. Also, notice how the positive (red) lead on my pictures is not in the same place as the one in the picture on DealExtreme.

Here are some labeled pictures that I took of the module:

Sorry about the huge pics. If you need better ones, just tell me, I'll take some more.
Please help guys, I really don't know what the problem is. Thanks a lot.

Probably, you left the iron on the PCB for too long,
and the diode died from overheating !

How could you return it if you killed it?

You should've returned it the moment the leads snapped off.

These things are very fragile, you should not attempt DIY repairs if you don't have extensive knowledge about laser module's inner workings and soldering equipement and soldering skills to match.

From DXs point of view, it's your fault that the module no longer works, so you are not qualified for a refund.

Sorry man. Your only option is to buy another one now.

Thanks. I'm still gonna try, so hopefully they accept it if I desolder the wires and tell them it did not come with wires. Yup, I'm pretty unethical :na:
