Probably because it isn't putting out anything near 200mW.

Burning power depends on power and beam diameter, so I'd assume that one of those is your issue.

It says right in the fine print, Power < 200mW. So, you do not have a 200mW laser ... It probably puts out 75 - 120mW once it stabilizes. The customer that commented said "not burning" ... his screen name was "low power". The price is a little on the low side for 200mW. I can't buy a 200mW module (LPM verified!) for $52.45USD, never mind a complete laser. Enjoy the bright green beam, and look for some black matches. Is the laser focusing properly down to a tiny burning point? If not, try a small convex (magnifying) lens in front of the laser, and place the match where the dot is tiniest.
(a few inches away at most)

Do you think that this laser has the 200mW DX module ? I think that it has got a lower powered module/diode and driver than that one that you have. In 1 or 2 days is arriving my module as yours, I`ll do a review about it but I haven´t got powermeter :( I`m new in this hobby.

See you

red match is hard to be ignited. and as a cheaper than 100$ 200mw green laser, it is very possible that its power doesn't come to true 200mw

What is your match color ? Black color one is easier .

I can burn red matches with 170mW of 405nm uncollimated but well focused up to 2 meters of distance instantly.

200mW Adjustable Green Beam Laser Pointer with Keys (Black) - Focalprice.com

As you've probably gotten from the title, it can pop balloons like a charm, but it doesn't light matches.

I've tried red, and coloring the tip of the match black, but still no luck.

Any suggestions?

Is it my laser?

That laser is the same crap that yotang sells. It averages at about 60-70mW and probably does severe mode hopping.

The reason you can pop anything with it is due to the focusable head. I saw some thread around here where someone used a 5mW laser to pop balloons with some type of enlargement glass.

I would ship it back and require a refund immediately.
