1) Is it possible to lay open a DX Laser Pointer Pen? Especially this part i show in photo, i tried hardly but it doesnt. I wanna clean the lens.

2) Why is there a round circle like we sometimes see aureole when we look at moon ? Is it related by the dirt of lens or ?

3) Not a question, i hardly take this photo with a small three-legged stand at my balcony 5 minutes ago. :) true 100mW DX still working good for 8 months.

4) Thank you all. ;)

I have opened the aperture cap on one of my 5mw greenies from DX, it just takes a LOT of force. But I would not suggest doing that with a good laser like the DX 100!
And for that circle around the dot, it is either dust or moisture on the lens. If it is dust, it can be cleaned off with a lenspen or mirofiber cloth.

I badly damaged the paint on the first DX200 i opened up. But i did manage to open up another one without inflicting any damage at all.

I mount the head in a vice with some strong but not too thick cardboard in between, to protect the paint. The head is in the vice and the rest is sticking up. Then i slowly edge it out, by pushing and pulling forward and backwards, while also pulling up (out).

It comes out VERY slowly, fraction of a milimeter at a time. If you twist it, you rip the legs off the diode! Don't twist. I have seen pics of someone who tried to "unscrew" it. The button holds the PCB in place, and rips the diode's legs into pieces.

But i would NOT recommend taking it appart to clean the lens. There are simply too many things, that can go bad. The slightest force on the driver can dislodge the diode, and the laser will never put out the original power again.

Besides, once it would be opened up, it would still be hard to clean the lens, because it is in a nut with slits for a tool to screw it into the module. If you use a Q-tip, cotton fibers get stuck on the sharp edges, and make everything even worse.

These lenses are hard to clean, without damaging them further. I bought the LensPen to be able to do it safely, but it slowly get's shredded to pieces on the sharp edges on the nuts in these lasers.

You should make yourself a cleaning tool out of a thin plastic stick, with some special cloth on top - a thinner version of a Q-tip, but not cotton, so the fibers don't get stuck. You can not touch this cloth, or you will contaminate your lens. Various cleaning solutions can help or make things worse.

I'm going to try to make a LensPen CellKlear thinner, specifically for these lenses.

Oh, and that "areola" is emitted by every laser. Even my CNI makes one, but it's much less obvious. If you have dirt on the lens, that's something else tho.

The fact that the circle around your dot is off to the side, tells me, the beam doesn't come out in the center of the aperture.. Mine is the same.
