1W NUGM01T 520nm Laser Diode

Finally got some free time and did some testing of the NUGM01T diode. This is with a G-2 lens ball lens removed. As others have noted this is slightly less powerful than the NDG7475 diode but not by much. The diode seems to have the same beam profile and divergence of the NDG7475. Looking at the dye it does have one less bond wire than the NDG7475 which possibly is why it is slightly less powerful.

So the efficiency drops off pretty steep after 2.4A and a peak of just over 1400mW.

Yes it looks really close to the 7475 diode great job as usual. Its nice to have a choice in the same WL and the price isn't to bad either. Running it at 2.4A and getting 1400+ out of it is sweet. Well you'll be hearing from me really soon for the NUG and the MUB 6+ diode. and also the 515nm single mode to.Ill run the MUB 6+ at 5A in a Mag light build plenty of mass from those hosts for heat dissipation .

Well, it is cheaper than the NDG7475. And we don't know if they are more or less stable than those either. But then again, if you're spending 300+ on a laser, you might as well get the best there is.

When I purchased this diode as soon as it came out, I just knew it would drop in price as soon as I bought it. I actually bought two before the price drop. Lol. But I'm perfectly fine with it, I knew there was a good chance of that when I made the purchases. Glad we're getting some more green choices. Hopefully we'll have a green 2+ watt diode eventually!

My beam expander and custom focus adapter from Sinner is FINALLY on its way. Lol. I plan on waiting until it gets here to build the second NUGM01T to see if running a beam expander with the stock lens and can in place is possible. Thanks for giving us yet another awesome diode DTR! :D

The beam specs are pretty close to the 7475, right?

Anyone found the divergence of this diode with a G2 lens? I'm trying to find the emitter size but unable to find it yet.

I searched the forum again, and after reading a few pages of posts in that thread found someone post the emitter size is comparable to the M140 and the divergence appears to be about 3.8 mRad at 100 feet. It's actually the emitter size I'm more interested in finding because then I can more accurately calculate the divergence for a given lens diameter.

Yea emitter size is pretty much the most important divergence spec most every diode maker leaves out of their datasheets.

I guess now I know what needs to be done, a cheat sheet posted on LPF giving emitter sizes for everything I can find. For many diodes I might have to extrapolate the size knowing the size of the beam at distance without optics, but I believe I have to know the angle of radiation to do that and these diodes can each vary from one to the other in that regard, so my calculations could be in error.
