Looks good on first sight, though as seen with the other "XPL" high powered DPSS lasers it might be best to look into purchase reviews first. Though in this laser's defense XPL's were pointer style.

Also in case you were thinking of buying don't forget it's almost Chinese New Year, and China shuts down for a couple weeks.

Alex, I thought you had gotten away from the lab style units once before, because of their lack of portability.
That 1W of 532 is going to be a big leap in power and brightness. :D

Yeah... I actually ordered a LaserGlow Aries but it's been 2 weeks already since it was sent from grainde to me and am worried customs might of gotten a hold of it.

I checked out your review of your Goldenstar Bowtie and it seemed pretty sweet! :D

Idk if I would recommend something like this unless you have a specific use in mind. Lab units like this are really only particularly useful for laser shows and burning stuff. The lack of portability really limits the recreational use of such a unit. I've been contemplating selling my 671nm because I just don't get much use out of it outside of it being an expensive nightlight.

Indeed. However it's really the price that has me very close to biting this deal. I mean, $566(or my offer of $500) for 1W of 532nm in a lab format is incredible, plus the fact that you can run it at night for a good green glow all around your house :D

"Good green glow all around your house."

Might be an understatement, 1W of green is incredibly bright :p. The dot is apparently as bright as nearly 19W of 450, if the relative brightness calculator is correct.

CNI Stuff is decent quality though as you know and that price is fairly reasonable. :beer:

Yikes! I'd definitely buy some quality safety goggles before doing any burning experiments with this unit. By the way, isn't 1W of 532 bad for your eyes if viewing without any goggles at a white wall? :can:

Good point---is an expensive($566 + shipping) light bulb mostly and one that is so bright you you can't look at the dot on a nonreflective wall or do anythng with it indoors without wearing goggles while using to avoid accidental eye damage or flash blnding yourself.

Use with goggles on is best practice if you want to play it safe.

From any sort of distance you won't need them, but you'll probably want them. At those powers it's almost like looking into the sun. :crackup: And that's from experience.:p

Here's my ~3W 532nm at mid afternoon on a bright sunny day with overhead lights on, and no fog.
If you look at the wall behind, and the side of the de-humidifier, you can see how the whole inside of the room looks with this "green light" powered up.

For brightness, this is a shot of my Jetlasers PL-E with a near 1W peak output. This is a daytime shot with no fog or smoke of any kind.

0.5W, no fog. Just below the 532nm beam there's a 30mW 488nm beam, although you can barely make it out.
