I just made a mistake with a $40 Amazon gift card, and purchases a 10mW astronomy laser, which you supposedly can see the beam, where I could've bought a 30mW one.

But here's my question: How do you mod a 10mW to make it stronger? Like i saw some videos about turning a screw, but that was for a 5mW. Is there any difference? And will modding let me be able to see the beam?

Please read FAQ bercause you cant really safely mod a POS greenie unless its a real leadlight then you can still damage the pot therefore your screwed
just buy a nova x100 and get it over with

How would I know if it's a leadlight?

Also, I really don't care about being screwed... it was like 10 bucks. I can always get another :)

It's not.

Also, most of these low powered lasers don't even have a "pot" any more.  The variability in output is the result of QC issues NOT adjustment issues.

I highly doubt the laser you purchased is actually 10mW. If you want a good quality laser I reccomend Laserglow.com's Lyra (any of the 4 designs) or their Gaileo.

Why would it not be 10mW?

Anyways, I found some extra money in a gift card and wasted it on a 30mW... Just wanna see the difference between the 2 xD

Well, bad laser companies (which unfortunutly is many of them) exagerate their output power, or rate the laser on it's peak power. Peak power is how much power a laser can possibly put out, but lasers tend to average on a lower power. Also, the lasers from Amazon likey do not have Infared filters (commonly abbreiviated as "IR"). Infared is laserlight, but it it is invisable and more dangerous than regular colored laser light. Even though it's invisable, many laser companies will add it to the claimed output power. So if you had a green pointer without an infared filter that averaged 25mW, a few mW's of that could be invisable IR. The laser you see on Amazon are from a China company called Newish. It's a company that often sells their lasers to companies to sell. Even though their lasers are inexpensive, they're generally poor quality and lack infared filters. If you want a good quality laser for a little bit more money, buy from either Laserglow.com, NOVAlasers.com, or Optotronics.com. They have great customer serivice, and awesome quality lasers with IR filters. My personal favorite is LG, but they're all great. If you want a nice pointer, check out LG's handeld laser section. You can use a 10% discount code for Laserglow, its 267101203 . Also, if you get a laser 15mW or over make sure you buy laser safety laser safety goggles for the proper wavelengh.
