100 mw pointer burns plastic bag but not match

Like the title says I recently got a 100 mw laser and I can focus it so it can burn through a black plastic bag but not to light a match. The match head is red and I was thinking maybe it had to be a black match head? Any ideas? Heres the link to the laser.

Im new to this so I just wanted something cheap to light some stuff up. Also on the website it says the laser can handle up to 4.2v. It came with an ultrafire 3.6v but I heard they were crap so I dont plan on using it. Ive been using a 3v rayovac lithium battery. Any suggestions on 4.2v batteries or something higher than my 3v? Retail store preferably but online suggestions welcomed.

when you charge your 3.6v fully it will be around 4.2v, use a black felt pen on the match, and dont forget to post a welcome thread and use the LPF search tab, threads and posts like this are commonly asked too, So try to use Search bar before these threads etc,

I will attempt both things you mentioned. Any good disposable batteries maybe in places suchs as target, frys, walmart?

So after putting a black dot on red match I was still only able to make it smoke, i am still only using 3v battery. Can battery be the issue here?

You can try to put the match in really dry place, like the oven. Maybe it is a bit wet.

Depanding on the matches you can obtain different effects. But it also can be connected with the pointer power - it can be less than 100mW.

I think that more voltage may help too, depanding on the driver used, but probably there is normal linear driver. You can use bench lab PSU if you have to check the results.

I will have to wait for a charger I ordered then. Laser I bought didnt come with a charger for battery :/.

I ordered from this site before, never will again. The "500 mw" green laser i bought will not burn or make anything smoke, also the laser is going bad on me. I could have gotten a legit 5mw laser and gotten the same results

I was actually able to get mine to light a match now. I fully charged my battery and now its working fine. Maybe you just have to get lucky with them. Expected since they are so cheap.
