Well you get a better beam-dot than a g2 and less splash,and not as much power loss as a 3ellement, I prefer the 2 element and I get 850mw from a NDG700 set to 1.8a

Good job on the build, I love that diode which is my current personal favorite! Very nice beam shots with the element of perspective with the buildings and thanks for comparing the different lenses.
BTW I'm glad you used the back half of the module which is preferred if your build has the room for it.

Sorry no comparison but here is a pic of a NDG700 at 2a with the 2ellement AR coated lens that even Jordan agrees is a great lens for the 520 diodes, 920mw at 2a is nice!
I'll be posting this build shortly, just grab one from Jordan and see for yourself, it's good to have one of each on hand!

Hi thanks for the picture! But I'm a little afraid that the 2 element lens AR would be like the G7 in my post; needing to screw the lens really far away from the laser diode to have parallel beams and hence making the lens wobbly.

If you don't like the artifact or square around the dot from the G2 and the G7 is so loose that it falls out, you will like the 2ellement a lot, I haven't had a problem with them 3 1/4 of the lens sits in the module when focused, you shouldn't have a problem, and there cheaper than a G2 and G7,

I'm curious though, what makes the G-2 Lens much so highly priced?

536616, a little late to ask but were you using the 9mm length barrel for the G7? It looks like it's in the shorter 7mm barrel in the pic's next to the G2..Have you tried a G7 with the longer 9mm barrel?

The 9mm long barrel has the lens pretty much flush with the end of the barrel. The 7mm long barrel has the lens a few mm in from the end. I have threading issues with the 7mm long barrels and the 12mm modules. I've tried to talk to Podo about this but doesn't seem to get anywhere.
