This is the Trail Blazer aka Zacop but not with the corrected optics installed.
I've got another test for that situation.
Here it's just the straight 520 with a G3 lens at a distance of 2 km or 1.2 miles !!!
I had to fish around and around to hit the drone at that distance because I literally couldn't see it out that far.
I flew it out over bushland and had it hovering around 70m or 230 feet while I got the laser onto it.

Anyway, I had promised Mr Alaskan I would try this a while back, so here it is.
Try to view it in Full Screen HD.
Enjoy !

Cool! Thanks for sharing :)

Always fun seeing the beam from the other end, I remember driving out ~10 miles at one of the UKLEMs to look at the beam from a Laserscope.

We had people from the next down over, and the cops show up, over that one.

Oh man RB, that an awesome video. I will be showing this to some of my friends! Very nicely done! :gj:

@Mr Alaskan, keep coming up with great ideas like this. :thanks:

Oh that would be awesome.
I was a bit nervous going out any further since it was getting dark.
Also worried a neighbour might freak out and call the police.

If it's a yt vid they haven't been coming through on iOS when using the yt button.
I wonder what's going on, I just tried it on my iPad and it worked fine.

Oh, this was so much fun Bob, I've been pumped all night trying to edit the footage, it's nearly 2.00am and I'm doing well for not having my morning coffee yet...

Glad you guys enjoyed it.

Thank you greatly Andrew, that is a very bright spot of green light at that distance. I wonder if that drone can carry much weight to send the pointer up with it and shine back? Maybe not a good idea, but a thought :)

Edit: Back for more, you know what would be very interesting? To compare that laser with a green 520 nm single mode to see how bright they are. Although the single mode will have much less power, with less divergence I'm wondering if it might look close to the same? If you ever do something like this again, that would be uber interesting.

That was great, Andrew. It can be easily seen how much that beam diverges at 2 km. Would like to see it at that same distance with the beam expander on it. :yh:

If you do this again and have a tripod that will make it easier to hold it steady.
Something else that would be interesting to see a close up of the spot at that distance. Long time ago, I saw a series of close up photos of a green laser spot. The distance from the laser to where it terminated was about 17000 feet. Done somewhere in Florida I think.

Great video, Andrew!
Imagine how hard that video would be to make without your drone.
After seeing that video, it doesn't look like you have too many neighbors that would see you. ;)
Cheers Jeff.
Yeah I'm amazed at these wonderful drones, they've opened up a whole new world for me.
Like I needed another hobby huh?

Glad you liked it Chris.
I plan to do more and like you say, compare different ones, stay tuned.
As for putting a laser on the drone, the problem is finding a way to turn it on at a distance, need to have control of the laser.
Hi Andrew,
Great vid of the green beam at that distance very impressive buddy. And thank you for sharing this truly amazing.
Rich:)
Thank you for watching Rich and the nice comments.

Thanks Paul, that's what I plan to do later but not as far out.
:yh:
tape a balloon to the drone :p 2km balloon pop maybe :D
Wish I could but divergence isn't going to cut it.
Only way is to pop the ballon with the props....

Exactly what I was planning on doing, use a tripod.
Also, as I said to Paul, I'm planning to film the Corrected Spot at a distance of 500 metres with the drone.
I can only do it at 500 metres because that's the only target I can aim at and have my drone film it close up.
Now that the cat's out of the bag, stay tuned, once I get the corrected optics sorted out I'll give it a try.

Thank you so much everyone, so glad you enjoyed it.
