I treat mine like a gun... I think the age should be 18, but I would say that maybe you're not mature enough at 18. Then again in UK you can drive at 17, and drink at 18... so I guess 18 would be right

Grades don`t measure intelligence, and age doesn`t define maturity

where you are from seems to have something to do with overall concern of safety

Grades do measure intelligence, its called book smarts. they dont measure common sense though and id beg to differ that age helps define maturity. i have never once seen a fully mature 10 year old. a 16 year old is far more mature than a 10 year old and a 18 year old is more mature than a 16 year old and to continue on a 21 year old (not under the influence) is more mature than a 18 year old. these are generalizations and there will always be outliers in statistics so yes in some rare cases a 16 year old may be more mature than a 21 year old but it all depends on their up bringing.

Every time i go back to my old high school to visit my favorite teachers i scratch my head and think "holy crap, was i that bad when i was in 7th grade or even 12th grade?" my teachers say the same thing, it seems as if the maturity level of the incoming classes is getting lower and lower, now what is causing this is another issue we could discuss but id rather not.

anyways, statistical data shows that the younger you are, the less mature you are and you cant really argue statistics or facts, well unless your uneducated and dont know what statistics are. why do you think there are age requirements to drive, drink and own a firearm? well logic and statistics show that they are in place to prevent immature people from doing these acts since they are at greater risk to do something stupid and kill themselves or by standers.

same thing goes with members and companies selling lasers. most wont sell a laser to anyone under 18 because frankly they aren't mature enough to understand the dangers lasers possess or know anything about safety. this gets proven almost every day here at LPF and if you dont believe me just do a search. how many articles are out there about young immature people shining lasers at air crafts or at people driving. let me answer that for you, WAY TOO MANY! how many laws or regulations have been created because of these people......again too many. how many people have destroyed their vision because of lasers.......too many. why do you think companies put stickers on even 5mW lasers reading "laser radiation, avoid eye exposure".......because even 5mW can mess with your vision!

way too many idiots own lasers in the world, we dont need any more of them owning lasers so this is why rules have been established by laser sellers to prevent these people from owning lasers. for anyone out there who doesnt agree with these rules well then, you shouldnt own a laser to begin with

Thank you and have a great day
